Congratulations, you guys! I think it takes a certain kind of stamina to do 100 of that type of cache in a day….we don’t have it! ๐
And special congrats to Doug on crossing the 1000 line, too.
After we met you at the cemetery cache? We hadn’t been to Friendship yet, that was after we saw you. Let me just say it is no longer a 1 terrain, if that helps!
Did you look before or after s|s did a replacement, labrat?
Trekkin’ was out late last night, getting some FTFs, including one in knee deep water!
Today was much more pleasant, a mess of finds and no whiffs over near Petenwell and Roche-a-Cri. We even met up with labrat at an out of the way cemetery. We’re very glad he came bearing hints, too! ๐
Okay, we’re back—two planted, one replaced! Does this get me FTP?
Maybe not.
We’re out to place a couple caches between storm systems.
Gotta be pretty close to FTP here, right? Let’s see….
We were out this morning, and many of the areas along the river are high, high, high, as is the river itself. Nothing like last summer, but enough to certainly be scary for those folks who in the path of destruction. Some places look like they might get water on their doorsteps.
Fortunately, it’s stopped raining and snowing here….for now, anyway.
Towels all over the floors in the basement, newly replaced padding from last summer’s flooding—torn out.
We’re really not enjoying this or seeing much humor in it anymore. It’s *still* coming in.
So, if I’m at the airport by 4:45, can I still crawl in that suitcase? ๐
SGH, We love winter caching, but in its own season, LOL. Which up north, could go into June, but down here we should be past all that!
IMO, the only good thing about April is that May comes after it. ๐ Heck, I found two deer ticks after spotting a Whooping Crane at a cache site on Tuesday! Crappy weather, ugly muddy, sleety, snowy scenery AND disease carrying insects. Great….not!
We’re just struggling with delayed gratification of that delorme now. We’ll survive!
We’re holding onto the thin thread of hope that by Sunday, we can at least go somewhere and do some caching. We were so up to do this DeLorme thing. Oh well, it will be a lot more fun in nice weather!
04/10/2008 at 1:58 pm in reply to: IATCC รขโฌโ Ice Age Trail Cold Cache Earthcache series #1887572Renee, We were planning to do one on the east bluff of Devil’s Lake, at the Devils Doorway. Will that work?
I was also thinking about the Pothole Trail there. Is that the one she means on her list?
That’s a great thought, Mister Greenthumb. There really is a difference in how the text and tasks would be presented for young kids to do fairly independently, which is what I was thinking. I actually got the idea when doing some online searching for information and came to some sites that related to my research that were specifically for use with elementary age kids.
Think about the way science concepts are presented in any children’s media—“Magic School Bus,” or “Bill Nye the Science Guy” for instance. Maybe Wisconsin can set a new trend by creating listings that are specifically for the kids.
I’m just thinking this is another place where we can help move the sport forward and help it be a tool for an appreciation of nature among kids.
Yuppers, and it was great to see you hit a couple of ours on the way out of hibernation and on to the milestone!
Should have thought of that. There weren’t very many and the last one was in November (which should be no surprise, since it was underneath a log and probably lots of snow until recently!) It was just a very small tupperware type box with sheets of paper and couple trinkets. Not even camoed or anything.
