Yeah, tasers can stay, unless they can be put to use to free a cache from ice or something!

Perfect example—Trekkin’ just gave me an update. Got beat to the first two by a local cacher who was only a name on logs before today. Now they are out getting the rest together. So cool when that happens!

Someone has to stay home and make dinner. Guess who that would be!

I think Trekkin’ is trying to build an area reputation for this kind of behavior, too….even as I type right now! Actually, we enjoy the hunt and whether the FTF is ours or someone else’s, we would get the ones around here, anyway, so it’s all good.

But there are a few folks in our area who’ve been out to “get us,” and we really think it would be a hoot if all of us converged on one of these new ones at once. At our very first FTF, I met bandits for the very first time, and getting to know those guys is WAY more of a prize than any FTF. As is true of most cachers we’ve met and come to call “friend.” Hopefully one day you’ll get to meet some of these folks as you chase the FTF.

Well, not only that, but my email notification says he snagged the Sinister Semantic Search, too. Does he have one more amazing find over there to call it a hat trick?

          Congratutions, Ralph!

We were wondering if we wanted to head back over near the 13/21 intersection. Guess that photo tells us “not yet!” We got our fill of that kind of thing up north last weekend!

Oh no, was that the one Trekkin’ found tonight? What a shame!

Count me as another who never thought about the fact that coins are not trade items. We usually just sign logs and trade coins, but on rare occasions, we’ve left coins in exchange for something in the cache…like last Thursday, a set of Packer cards. Won’t do that anymore, I’m glad it was put in this light.

We carry stuff to put in caches with almost nothing…if we remember to bring the swag bag along. We don’t have little ones coming with us, but will admit to every now and then finding something really fun for ourselves. I think my favorite is a little handmade folk art badger, made by someone who calls herself ” The Artful Badger.” Luckily, we had some items along that time so I could trade for it.

At first, I stocked our caches very well, but was discouraged, as others comment, on the way that stock dwindled quickly. We’re putting together the final for a mystery one that will have a nice prize for those who find it, though. [;)] Timberline Echoes says he won’t bother with it, cause he can “cash in” on this prize anytime he wants! We’ll see about that!

Nope, you’re off the hook, Ralph, it was still in place the next morning.

There’s a theory out there that some zuma groupie saw you’d signed it and took it to sell on ebay. I’ve got a watch on any such suspicious offerings and you should, too! 😉 At least if they get a good price, you can demand your cut! 🙄

Two of my grandparents did, but the very best story I’ve ever heard is one told by my friend Yvonne Healy, another storyteller. Her great-uncle Con Healy went down to the ship to say farewell to his brothers, and was in the midst of telling a story when the whistles blew for all ashore. He refused to stop in the middle of a story, paid his passage, continued his story and many others, then signed in and out at Ellis Island before returning to Ireland. They thought it was only a family legend, believing that her father was the first one over, until Yvonne and her family visited themselves and found Con Healy’s stats in the record books there, matching the legend perfectly. Literally here one day, gone the next!

I honestly cannot do the story justice. It’s hers to tell and though I’ve heard it many a time, I can’t help but hurt myself laughing every time!

I made maple syrup for many years, it is hard work. If you have a sugar maple to tap use a gallon jug. Also you can make great coffee from the sap, just use like water, it has a great flavor! The fresher the better and no need to boil it.

Thanks for sharing those more distant ones. Our great friends moved to St. Helena CA about 5 years ago, and it’s a dirty job, but I go to Napa Valley to visit about every 1.5 years! 🙄 They are so thrilled, because every time I’ve gone there before and they asked me what I wanted to do, I was just peachy with whatever. I told them I want to go geocaching at Point Reyes next summer and they couldn’t be happier.

There are a couple others there, Shutter Ridge and something else. Did you also do those?

We’ve just got one more in mind right now. Well, maybe two. Oh wait, three, but that one’s in Iowa! But they will have to wait just a bit yet. Looking forward to doing the one you’ve got active, Anne, it sounds so wonderful. Maybe when something’s growing, though, huh?

Our new one, plus Gary’s two, are both up and ready to be discovered now. Yipppee!

lagrac and I were in the Baraboo area, where dependent on the slope and tree cover, there could be anywhere from just patches to ankle-calf deep snow. From there, we were in Watertown, where it was largely bare but soggy in the lowlying areas.

What’s it like way north? We’re taking a circuitous route up to visit the “in-laws” this week and hopefully finish up that corner of delorme pages. One snowshoe trek is in our sights, too.

Mine for the Valley of the Ice Grotto, an ice cave in the Kickapoo Reserve, is awaiting geoaware’s approval, …since Wednesday; I got the other approvals from the state and the Ho-Chunk Nation already. Hope these all come through soon.
