The storms were strong, loud, a little scary….and very fast.  Now it’s just rain.

Debby, no I haven’t heard of these books, but you’re right…they sound like ones I’d enjoy.  Thanks for the recommendation!

Well, I haven’t talked my friend into another trip to Hawaii, but I might have talked another friend into a spur of the moment trip to Nebraska in the next week or so.

I know, Nebraska.  But if you know a few things about the Platte River, you might understand the appeal right now!

Looks like bartrod is having a great time in Paradise.  Maybe I need to talk my friend into another trip there some time.  Trekkin’ doesn’t do airplanes.

I’ve been staying with my parents, as we had a funeral to attend yesterday.  Twice this morning before 6:30, the phone rang and it was some idiot asking for “Mrs. Johnson.”  Guessing the scum that scammed her a couple weeks ago are back for more money. Fool me once…..

Our cache that published a week ago yesterday was finally found today.  Nothing tricky, just a bit of a walk in the woods.  Now it will probably sit…..forever.  Sigh.

Both the cats we had responded to their names.  Of course, they would also respond to anything that rhymed with their names.  Molly would stop and look if we said “holly, golly” or such.  So I’m not sure if that says ours were smarter or not.  😉

Thanks Tom.  Interestingly, every single member of my family had much more personal, hands on tortuous ideas of what we would do if this scumbag could be caught.

The police knew exactly which scam this was when she started to explain it.  He told Mom they get about one of these every week.  How can these people look themselves in the mirror????

I am so angry I want to just seriously…kill someone.  I don’t often talk that way, so you know it’s bad.  Just got back from visiting some of my family in Minneapolis, and when I got to Mom and Dad’s, she was in the middle of sorting through a phone scam that got her.  Two thousand bucks.  She’s 92 years old and one of the smartest people I know, but they’ve been dealing with a lot of serious health things regarding my dad and she’s just emotionally worn out.  She and Dad had to “spend down” their savings, which didn’t take long with his health issues, and are just now getting covered by Medicaid as a result of that.  Some a&&hole ripping her off of what little is left is …..well, there’s a special place in h*** for that person.

There is no freaking way a full bobbin should be out of thread less than halfway through a doll’s jacket project.

Yet….it’s happened.  All that topstitching, I guess.

We feel your pain.  That had been an issue for us over the last few years (since the first of three 100 year floods in our region).  We finally narrowed down the point of entry and have set up a sump pump to run when water threatens, along with a lot of corrective landscaping.

Worst was the year I broke my arm and couldn’t manage the wet/vac we were running 24/7 for three days.  Trekkin’ had sole duty with that, since no family was around to help give us a break.  Hope you don’t get to that point.

If at first you don’t succeed…..

Just reserved a cabin…again…in Yellowstone for the very end of summer.  Hopefully this year things like wildfires won’t have us ditching our trip to Devils Tower, Yellowstone and the Tetons.

Tomorrow is Superb Owl Day.  Birders who don’t care who’s in the other event go out hoping to find some Superb Owls.  I still don’t have a single owl sighting for this year, so hopefully tomorrow that changes!

So all this Star Trek viewing seems to have me exploring new worlds.  Last night I had a lot of fun at our little song circle’s first gathering.  Today my essential oils starter kit arrived.  Looking forward to diving into that area, but it will have to wait, because tonight is my book club.

This is why we aren’t caching that much anymore, LOL  Not a bad thing, though.

Where are you staying in St. Germain?  Usually when we’re up that way, we’re staying with Timberline Echoes, but a couple years back, we stayed at a surprisingly nice motel right on 70, but far enough away it wasn’t noisy.  And the restaurant next door was excellent!  Have fun!

Took the Lime in today.  They can’t find any issues with the alternator or starter, so it must have been a freak thing.  They did find a bad belt, so that was good to discover.  Also, my front wheels are out of alignment, which I totally blame on the horrible condition of the roads in LaCrosse county, made even worse with this hot/cold winter.  It’s nearly impossible to completely avoid the many 6 inch deep potholes on the roads.  Do you think the county adminstrator would accept my request to pay for that part of my repair bill?
