Nope, uh-uh, never have.
Now, we did have one day when we found 30 caches—in November–and people *might* have thought they saw smoke, but that was just our dust 😀
I posted a demand, but it’s still telling me there are only 7. Maybe I need to log off first?
I’ll have to try it again. I actually knew about viewing source code, but maybe I missed clicking on something, or clicked too far!
Thanks!
Are there options available for renting one of these? You’re right, it would probably be smart to have one available at events. Since we’re relatively new to the WGA events, how many are actually held each year? Is it the campout and the fall picnic? That’s why I’m wondering if a short-term rental might be available and more cost effective.
Smart idea, either way!
While there isn’t TOTAL dominion over the remote in this household, it tends to be the same person who holds our main GPSr. If this Magellan/Garmin marriage has both units out together, that negates the question somewhat, LOL.
Fun poll, sandlanders!
Thanks everyone, and though brothers follow brothers, Trekkin’ is lusting for that fancy new Colorado. And this is a mixed marriage; I have a yellow eTrex…..and I find them just fine with it!
Paul,
Mine at Effigy Mounds is now live. I will have to wait until tonight to make the listing “pretty,” but the basics are all there now. It’s an awesome place with more preserved effigy mounds than anywhere else in the midwest. Great Visitor Center with displays and resources, too.

Paul, IF I can get my cache submission to go through—which has not happened tonight after three attempts—there will be an awesome Earthcache at Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa. I’ve been working for three weeks with the Chief Ranger to make this happen and received Parks approval today.
I do know there is a cache in New Lisbon that is by effigy mounds, and another over in Whitewater.
Well, two of them are all ready to go and a-okay. The second one was placed today. Gotta come to the event for first dibs, though! I’m putting the third one out on Thursday. It’s a little bit of a grand tour of the border country, LOL.
Oh, and Trekkin’ has some evil thing planned, too. Park and hunt for a long time is his hope with that one!
See you then!
Holy Caching Machine, Batman! That’s some serious hunting…congratulations Seth and Marie.
What else could we do?
TEPut out a new cache and carve a stamp for yet another, LOL. That’s what we did!
Congrats to Barry and Valerie, you guys were some caching machines this weekend! It was great meeting you (and Signal!) in Hudson.
Congratulations Dave! We thought we could maybe at least trail behind, but we were left eating your dust. We had fun looking for the ones we found, though, got us to some great spots away from the madding crowds.
I noticed quite a few caches in the UP about various yeti sightings, too. There are some along the Gandy Dancer Trail in northwest Wisconsin as well.
Hadn’t heard of these guys, however. Creepy!
Jeremy,
Can you share the cache of yours you mentioned? I do like the notion first expressed by Doc and echoed by some others that sometimes, a cache like that can be a destination, especially for a milestone. Personally, if it looks interesting to us, we’ll do it no matter the distance.
I’m thinking of KVR-HILO, which was about 7 miles of challenging hiking, with 10 waypoints along the way for one smiley. It is one of the best caches we’ve ever done. We didn’t even use it for a milestone, although I know natloh did.Lately, trudging miles through knee deep snow or subzero windchills has opened our eyes to the value of P and Gs, but I still much prefer to do “destination” caching.
Thanks for the input, everyone. I’m not concerned with getting tons of visitors to anything we place, but if few hardcore cachers would have an interest, it can be a lot of work to arrange. If that were the case, we’d just choose to go for the hike and let a potential cache placement go.
Jeremy, never mind, I figured out which one you meant. I’m planning that one this spring, when the awesome birding opportunities return to Wyalusing!
