Prizes? We’re talking prizes? You mean, if non-cachers ask us why we’re doing this we can say, “We want to win a prize?”

People would actually “get” it for a change, LOL. I just thought it would be fun for the sake of the fun, but hey. Prizes are cool!

One of the ones I’d hoped to place is at least 50 miles away, probably more. The county forester hasn’t responded to two emails yet, though. Might pick up the telephone.

I have a couple more ideas for earthcaches in the area, hopefully with some time off next week we can go cache in those areas and gather our needed info. Which counties were you hoping to visit? LOL

          Hi Kim,

We’re in this corner, near LaCrosse. No, the caching is not as dense here as other areas, but what we lack in number, we generally make up for in awesome terrain. Rochester has lots of them and is only about an hour away from us, but many of those are puzzles. Also urban micros, which I won’t explain that much because it will ruin the surprise for you. After the initial surprise, though, they aren’t all that cool, LOL.

Wildcat Mountain has a series of caches that are awesome. There are several blufftop climbs/hikes in the LaCrosse area that are also great caching. If you want other ideas, just ask. We’ve done pretty much everything along the river from Potosi to Wabasha.

I think it would be great. We’ve found some that have sat for as long as a year. That’s always fun and I know as a cache owner, I like seeing an “a-ok” post on ours that get less company. Seems like the lonely ones are often puzzles or ones that require a journey to get to. Those are among our favorite caches.

After reading the rules, I think we need to hold off a few weeks before going after one. It’s been over a year since it was found!

I’m experiencing the exact same issues….I can see the preview page, which is typical, but have not received the PQ via email, which has always happened before. Normally I can just look at the preview, but I’m trying to go paperless and need to load something into GSAK to play around and figure out how it works. I wish I’d saved the files emailed to me for old pocket queries, just so I could play around with all the new toys.

Oh well, we seem to have managed to find over 1000 without anything other than a plain ol’ GPSr, maybe we’ll continue in that mode for now.

It’s just the way my life is going lately, I guess. I haven’t run a pocket query in a couple weeks, and never this one. So go figure. I guess I can look at it like this; I’ve had so many rotten tomatoes thrown at me lately, there can’t be very many left. 🙁

Thanks Jeremy, that must have been our problem and I fixed it. Course, I’ll have to wait until we have a chance to do more out of state caching, but that shouldn’t be too tough. We’ve cached out our own area, LOL.

I had never bothered to look at that “recent logs” thing, but it’s a whole different picture of what’s going on with everyone and sometimes I just want to avoid chores, so it’s a great distraction!

Yeah, maybe a new computer monitor?

I’m guessing maybe a cryptic new grandchild post? Whatever it is, congratulations marc!

Can this guy just for once not make a puzzle out of something? 😉

I do know the LaCrosse Rec staff if I can be of assistance, let me know.

We know Gar from a long time ago. Is Mike Ulrich still with them? He and Dick coached middle school football eons ago. Maybe Trekkin’ should come along, just in case! [/quote]

Thanks for the brochure link, and PCFrog, great point about sharing info regarding other areas of the state where geocaching is allowed and encouraged. Hopefully this will go well, I can get my earthcache permission and FINALLY get our gold earthcache master, LOL. I’d tried twice to contact someone about placing an earthcache in Clark County and nada. I may try phoning. Tried close to home and ended up doing a presentation for the parks board.

Maybe there’s a great cosmic message in all this? No scratch that. I don’t want to know what it might be, I’ve had enough dispiriting cosmic messages to last a loooooong time!

Welcome. We’re not too far, over near LaCrosse. You HAVE to do Dr. Evermor’s cache. Wait for nice weather, though, as you’ll have a better chance of visiting with Dr. Evermor. That in itself was the best part of that whole awesome cache.

We’re hoping to place a couple earthcaches in the area after the first of the year, too.
