We haven’t been caching for 17 days. Not missing it, either. We are becoming “vacation cachers” more and more, and since vacations are a rarity for us….*eye roll*
I’m joining a song circle tonight. A yoga friend is starting it. Should be fun. Not that my singing is all that great, but that’s the fun of a song circle. Doesn’t have to be!
Our coffeemaker died yesterday. We’ll be better tomorrow, we got a new one. We improvised with the camping coffeepot this morning!
Pixiestix, I’ve had that, too. I finally gave in and went to the doctor after Christmas, by which time it had become a sinus thing. Drugs helped, but that little cough just doesn’t want to quit. Other than that, though, I feel way better. Hope you do too, soon!
Ugh! Nothing like getting all geared up for a day of birding, only to hop in the car and….it won’t start. With a battery less than two weeks old. It must have a parasitic draw, but I don’t have the tools to track that down. I know for a fact no lights were left on overnight. Or radio. I never have the radio on.
Sigh.
Ours is all clear. Also, a good part of my last day on the Habitat house (it gets dedicated and handed over to the partner family on Saturday) involved chopping ice. One of the guys installing gutters looked like Aaron Rodgers…that was a little disconcerting!
After this, I’m “laid off” until they can put in the concrete footings for the next house. Whatever will I do with my Thursdays until then?????
I’m doing both. I think that’s called “hedging my bets.”
Writing to elected officials……is a personal letter sent via email considered as effective as snail mail? I’m hoping “yes,” because I’m writing a lot of them and would like to save the postage!
It’s just awful out there! We told our older son he can spend the night here, rather than try to get up the bluff where he lives. But he’ll probably try anyway, cause….what do us old fogies know?
I’m just glad we don’t have to go anywhere.
We have an unexpected guest and her Hatchimal. School was closed ahead of the ice storm. Trekkin’ couldn’t handle the chattering Hatchimal so he found some errands to run. *eye roll*
What a treat! No one could possibly guess that’s one of my very favorite birds. *eye roll*
I know…..I once got stuck in a muddy uphill Amish driveway and had to put the vehicle we had at that time into 4wd to get out. My Amish friends were watching with amusement and I stuck my head out the window to say….”Probably I should just get a horse, right?” They laughed and said…”We have to given them a kick every now and then, too!”
So I guess a horse isn’t the answer. I have my first major repair coming up, too, but we’re holding off since it just makes for a bumpier ride and no safety concerns.
It would be cool to ride a horse into LaCrosse, tie it to a post and then go to yoga. Don’t have a horse of my own, though.
Well, that was fun….not!
I started my morning just fine, with a great yoga practice. Luckily, it was at the studio in town, not the one on LaCrosse’s northside, because I went out to my car and…..no juice. This happened a couple weeks back but we got it charged up and all’s been fine. Well, the car is over 7 years old with the original battery, should not come as a big surprise.
Then began the back and forth with roadside service, the garage to get a new one, yada yada. Early dismissal from school for the kids, so that added another layer of interest. Our son came into town to get Pooh’s Pal, who was having a blast building a snowfort, but stopped to give me a jump so I didn’t have to sit and wait forever in the coffee shop for the roadside guys. Drove to the dealership and was out of there in less than 30 minutes, since they had so many cancellations.
Lots of sitting around and not getting much done, but it could have been way worse. Lots of thick sloppy snow and awful roads here.
Hawaii sounds good. Which islands? I was on Oahu for a week several years ago. I’d go back in a minute if I could. Have fun!
We live all of 10 miles from Pearl Street. Only time I’ve been there was to drop off some goodies I’d made for a storytelling fundraiser held there. I wasn’t even able to stay for the event. Sad on all accounts!
We might have that many six pack boxes. We’ve been saving them for when we brew and bottle our own
So for the first time in several years, we’ve decided not to go to Winter Fest at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Usually we do the long ice cave hike and whatever else we have time to do. It’s just too cold, and if we did the indoors stuff…people with cold and germs all over and we’re just getting over stuff ourselves.
So….instead we’re heading to LaCrosse and doing the Pearl Street Brewery Tour this afternoon. We buy many of their products but haven’t actually visited where they come from! Stay warm, everyone.
