Congratulations, Mr. Caching Monkey!
We’re still waiting for our bronze stuff. Hopefully after next weekend, we’ll be able to request our silver!
Ralph, Yes, this is the one lagrac had some communications with. There is an old fishing buddy/coworker of Trekkin’s who is friends with some of the folks organizing it, and I’d communicated with wheels about the need to get this stuff listed. wheels has done a great job of getting a few out–six so far–that ARE listed on gc.com.
But I agree. Hopefully next year, they will take advantage of the potential having everything listed can bring. We’ve gone after the permanent caches, but didn’t register for the event. We’re heading after some caches north of here—like a couple earthcaches and maybe a mess on some bike trail south of Eau Claire! 😉
Mr. Meteer has obviously registered here now, and can see how the warped minds of the hardcore cachers work firsthand. 🙄 I guess my hope as an area cacher is that a few of the people who play in that event get interested beyond it and join the community. Heck, there’s this pizza get-together right in the middle of the event! hint hint
10/19/2007 at 12:21 am in reply to: 2008 Wisconsin Geocaching Awards? – looking for opinions! #1880369Can we have a category for “getting so far off track on a trail that they had to walk highway 27 for a mile back to the park entrance and then back in?” We’d be a shoo-in for that one!
Wow. Does zuma need to worry about this? 😉
Seriously, congratulations on truly being an “early bird,” Dave.
I think those are in National Parks, because that arrowhead is seen on the NPS website. Just my guess. I do believe Pipestone is part of the NPS, though.
Wow, what a “rocky” way to mark 400! Congratulations to Heather and “the girls.”
We actually did buy the product from a third party vendor, who were not able to help us. While we like our Magellan, we’ve pretty much decided when it conks out, we’ll go with Garmin. I’ve actually got the little yellow Garmin for my back up.
And I agree. We have put on too many miles and burned too much gas in areas we didn’t know very well, which was the reason we wanted this program in the first place. I’m going to walk away for a little while and have at it again later today. Sigh.
Well, after a very frustrating morning trying to launch the MapSend program we bought last JULY….I got it on our computer. We’d tried many times before but they kept having “shopping cart issues.” Now the stupid program doesn’t “believe” that the serial number I entered is correct, nor will my computer recognize the “unknown device” when I try and let the computer detect all this stuff direct from the GPS.
I may save ourselves the money and keep going old school. We could put the money toward that Ireland trip I want to take instead! I think we’d have blissfully gone caching along without concern if we hadn’t heard about all these “toys.”
Is there an emoticon for a face that’s fuming and ready to explode? 🙄
Yeah, I’ve heard that, too, but thankfully, the lovely Irish rains had been falling before arrival…both times.
Also, I’m not sure how the locals could get up there after hours, with the gates and such. I’m sure where there’s a will, there’s a way.
I did that Blarney Stone bit twice. Silly over-rated fun. I have been working on “fear of flying” Trekkin’ to make a trip to the old sod with me.
There’s a hiking tour run by one of the local profs I’d love to do.I wonder if we should put the word out to everyone to put all of your caches on their watch list!
Won’t work—I’m already there!
I do watch those I’ve DNFed, but I guess I hadn’t thought about watching others for reasons of interest. Those I just find in my list of finds and read every so often to see what others think.
Hmm, methinks I need to buy some cans, though I’m pleased as punch to say there’s nothing quite like having one pulled in a real Irish pub; in County Cork! I have the photos to prove it.
I don’t know as I’ve ever enjoyed this fine brew from a can. Bottles or tap only. My favorite! (not that I’m much of a drinker, but it is my favorite!)
Nope, no problem. Makes sense with respect to GS’s privacy policies; I was just trying to figure out why anyone else might watch some of them.
Oh man, does this ever look fun! I wonder if Trekkin’ will develop a nasty flu bug tomorrow, lol. Oh no, he can’t. Well, the weekend is only a few days off!
Thanks to lostby7 and zuma for giving us a weekend goal. There’s one in Plum City I whiffed, too.
And zuma, middle of nowhere? It’s only 78.2 miles from me. Oh yeah, that’s right. I live in the middle of nowhere, at least compared to the cache rich areas!
We’ve found a few books of matches and a few lighters, all of which we’ve pulled (and traded something). Food occasionally, usually candy. One knife/keychain. Trekkin’ liked that one! Oh yeah, and that joint last winter! 😯 That one hit the ice, I’m sure some carp in Lake Neshonoc appreciated it.
But so far, no beer. It is interesting that the cachers don’t just pull it for you, if they realized it doesn’t belong there.
