Congratulations to Rushford’s Caching Monkey on yet another landmark.
Hey, hopefully we’ll be parking once for four caches this coming weekend, eh? 😉Check out earthcache.org On the left hand sidebar, one link is “Earthcache Masters.” It lists the requirements needed to achieve each level. You meet the requirements and you are sent a pin. Cool!
Bronze Earthcache Master right now!

Your story brings back similar memories from our days doing all the 10k-half-marathon runs around here. Some were very well laid out, others…..
well, they had good intentions, I guess. I DNFed one race because of heat exhaustion, it just wasn’t worth it to me to keep going when I felt like that.I did see that someone died doing the Chicago Marathon this weekend due to the heat. Trekkin’ has run that marathon two or three times, and you just never know what kind of weather to expect this time of year. Glad you were able to get back into town and are here to tell the story today!
I’m in it for the adventure, too. We did lagrac’s most excellent earthcache in Forestville today, my kind of cache. Have to laugh at this ridiculous 50 mile goal, however. We were out today and had it down to 31. A little while ago, lizs had a series of 4 come up, RIGHT WHERE WE WERE CACHING today! Canoe caches, wahoo. I am trying to convince Trekkin’ that we can just spring to rent canoes for this series. Although we own two canoes and a kayak, at the moment, we don’t have the towers available for our new vehicle to transport them.
I kind of sort of had a goal to do all the canoe caches in Wisconsin and our 50. We’ve got a long way to go!
Trekkin’ seems to have also caught Ralph’s FTF disease. I think there might be a 12 Step Program for that one! 🙄
Congratulations to you! We want details on the hunt for your milestone, too!
Hmm, sounds like a new cache is going to pop up contingent on this!
Sorry, can’t help you. Though we were about ready to trash the Magellan after our last caching misadventure. Amazing what some lysol can do, though!
Baby backpacks are wonderful, too. We did a bazillion volkswalks when to boys were little this way. Once they didn’t want to stay in the backpack, they walked.
Yup. Three year olds who walked 6 miles with us! Took all day, cause they look at every little thing, but we still got out.
It’s when they get to be around 15 that nothing works. So you’ve got lots of years!
I tried one last time, leaving the apostrophes out of our caching name. It worked!
However, I hope they can “find” us now to check out our logs, LOL. Computers, gotta love ’em.
Are you using a Mac or PC?
Furfool, That’s the same approach we’ve taken to the Delorme, too. At last count, we were at 53 pages, I think. Of course, when traveling, we’d take one route there and a different one back, LOL.
The day will come when we’ll just have to make a trip strictly to get the rest of the pages, but both of us know of two trips we’ll have to make that will help us get at least five more pages along the way.
Haven’t even looked at the counties, but I’m sure depending on where one grabs the delorme caches, some counties could be missed. They’re close, but not the same.
Zowie! Call the cops, they need a speeding ticket!
Congratulations you guys, couldn’t happen to a nicer pair of bandits! 😉
No, I appreciate the background. I’ve come into the OM support since the time the project began and wasn’t aware that other sites had been in consideration. Crex is surely more removed, and you’re probably right, it was the proximity to the Crane Foundation that figured in to the final choice of Necedah. I know there are a number of programs that allow people to visit Necedah to watch the training flights, then head to Baraboo.
That said, it is still worth a person’s time to go there and see this happen. I am not sure how I could make this into an earthcache. I do have another place in mind where I can bring folks to see how the geology of place is instrumental in bringing back another endangered bird, though! I’m waiting for my first earthcache to complete the approval process, then I’ll tackle the next. I think right now the gc.com approvers are waiting for the state guy to let them know the notification has been received and passed along to the local land manager. I’m guessing very soon; it was mailed last week after getting the state guy’s approval.
Congratulations to you! I like the travel bug idea, too! 😉
It’s great to hear these stories. I found a coin the other day that’s been in a race since early 2006, wanting to finish by 2008. Nice to know they don’t all go missing!
