Well, the place with the horse/yoga retreat hasn’t responded to my inquiry I sent on the 4th. So I don’t think I’ll be going there!
I remember going through Parumph on our way to Death Valley. We commented there has to be a story behind the town name.
It’s good to know there’s some inherent value remaining with this site. It’s too bad it doesn’t get the visible activity it once did, but that is the way of the world. Hack’s suggestion regarding a group page is probably a good one. For myself, I really prefer something like the website for a “hang out,” as the other site tends to suck one in to spend far too much time, but that’s my own little idiosyncracy and not probably the rule of thumb for most. I haven’t joined any “add on” fb geocaching groups for that very reason, it’s hard enough for me to stay on the straight and narrow there as it is. Thanks for all the discussion and clarification!
Interesting, so maybe those retreats I found aren’t so out of line. Yet….I found another horse ranch yoga retreat located about 20 miles from Rocky Mt. Nat’l Park. What’s included and the type of weekend are very similar to the one in Montana, but it was less than 500 bucks. Like, one fourth the cost. Go figure. It’s right after my birthday this fall and I am tempted.
Odd question here….have any of you done some kind of specialty retreat over a weekend? If so, what kind of cost and what was included? There are a couple that intrigue me, but the sticker shock hit me. One is a yoga/horseback riding one in Montana. The other is yoga/ kayaking on Madeline Island. Both are all inclusive, but cost upward of 1300. Is this unusual?
Oh jar42, that sucks! Homeownership is such a joy sometimes.
We never use those self checkers. In a world where we cut ourselves off more and more from real people, we try when we can to connect with them face to face. Even at the grocery store. And we’re always nice. Can you tell I worked a checkout line for years? I know the feeling!
Seriously? I bought mine at shopko and no problems. Maybe because the older lady cashier recognized me as a regular. Or maybe she figured a senior also buying a Littlest Pet Shop toy on sale wasn’t going to be cooking anything scarier than banana bread.
Well, not hugely sick, but what a rotten morning!
Told Trekkin’ I was leaving by a certain time to get to the docs, so he needed to be out of the shower by that time. (Grand daughter’s here for the day). Ten minutes post that time, he’s out. Run out to garage. Pull out of garage and as usual, garage door closer doesn’t work for me. Walk all the way around to close the garage. Go to car. Battery is dead. I guess that’s not such a surprise, considering the car is over seven years old on the original battery, but how inconvenient!
Diagnosis is not pneumonia, cancer, dog allergies or any of the things Trekkin’ thought it had to be. Bronchitis with some sinus infection. I have some antibiotics with not wonderful side effects, but now I also have peace from the “in house doctor” (with no medical training!) I can also highly recommend Mucinex DM (as suggested by the doctor) for this kind of thing.
All I’m thinking of is whether the doctors can figure out what’s up with this never ending cough and sneezing…no eyes watering, though. I’m finally caving and going in this morning. Tired of sounding like Froggy from the Little Rascals.
I dunno….last time my Habitat crew ate at Culvers, the FOTD was something like caramel fudge cookie dough. My coworkers insisted I get some, since it had everything I love in ice cream.
You can have mint chip…but it’s your birthday, so you should!
That’s right, it’s almost….you know!
Hope you’re able to finish the geo art, Jim. We are inside a snowglobe in Coulee Country at the moment. Not going anywhere!
What happens when you retire……
I walk in the door tonight after my regular day helping build for Habitat. Trekkin says, in a peckish manner….”I didn’t know you were going to be gone all day!”
He thought I went to yoga. No clue what day it is. However, my yoga mat is in a bag by the back door, he should have realized I wasn’t there.
There is going to be an Ice Castle in the Dells this year. My son has taken our grand daughter to it the past two years in Minneapolis. I went along and brought Pooh’s Pal last year. It’s a pretty neat deal, and the Dells is a lot closer for us. No idea if Elsa is still going to be the hot attraction at these or if something else will be taking her place.
Good one, jar!
We both do have things we “need” to do (besides a lot of grandkid daycare). Trekkin’ is involved in the local historical society. I am part of the local Audubon and also build at the Habitat site every Thursday. We were just talking yesterday that it helps to have *something* you need to do, even if most of the time you just goof off!
