Okay Robin, knowing the location of HBZ-51 and what you just said, I almost think I can guess where it is! Add “mountain lion” to your rattlesnake warnings. We were hiking up there and saw tracks. The park rangers didn’t want to admit to it, but there have been rare sightings out there. This was about 17 years ago, though.
Would actually make for a cool caching story if someone saw one! We look forward to beginning to find some of these this weekend! So how many of the FTFs did you get, zuma?
Congratulations! I’ll be up for my next chance at a FF after I put this outlaw in jail. Already made the find, just have to decide when I’ll have that kind of time, and hope I’m luckier this time!
Looks like I’ll be bringing up the rear for the WI Posse, but it’s been fun. My first coinquest.
Man, I was doing so well with my vehicle choices early on, but I’m now chasing my 12th, and my last three choices have been clunkers!
What’s ironic is that I briefly considered the right vehicle choice. Oh well.
At this point, I just want to finish and solve the puzzle. I hope to nab the Peanut Gang by finding a cache when I head to Rochester for a storytelling gig this afternoon. I’ll only need two more after that, one we’ll get this weekend. The other is Terminator Sam and I’m really hoping the location requirement will work or I’m doomed!
Congrats to all of you who’ve finished already, especially pharmteam! Wow!
I saw those pop up last night, maybe we’ll grab some of those gifts on our way up to Robin’s bash on Saturday.
Happy 39th, Zuma! 😉
Yeah, they’re kind of like aging–the longer you’re around the scene, the quicker the time (and finds!) seem to pass!
Congratulations once again!
Trudy, That’s beginning to be one of my pet peeves, too. People are funny about these things, I don’t get it myself. We have actually found 2 green jeeps and could have discovered about 2-3 more. We found our first white one a couple weeks ago.
And order the red one to release! 😀
Congratulations to you, don’t let the devil slow you down now.
I thought I’d read logs on all our possibles, what a dork! Doesn’t the page still show up for awhile, though?
Too bad, it is nice to have these at rest stops for travelers. We were thinking there should be one at the eastbound one near us, maybe we’ll work on that.
06/18/2007 at 12:50 am in reply to: Zuma & Team Honeybunnies finish their 2nd Delorme Challe #1876169And we thought getting a few pages while on the way to my storytelling gig was an accomplishent. Wow! You guys are amazing, congratulations!
The tab key? I did find my spots the last time, and used pretty much the same strategy to try and find the picture. Clearly, it didn’t work for me that time!
Congratulations on completing the quest! I’m just shooting for being done by 7/6. My last two vehicle choices sucked. If anyone has any hot tips on finding fast forwards, I’m all ears. My strategy the first time was not good and I wasted WAY too much of my life trying to find it!
Depending on the date chosen, we might be interested, too. Like Mr. TE
(Trekkin’s brother), there are strong ties to that part of the state for us!Congratulations on a job well done. Since some of our family has recently moved to the DePere area, we’ll appreciate your efforts!
Oh yeah, and there’s that football team Trekkin’ likes up there, too. 🙄
Thanks for taking the time and putting yourselves out there on behalf of geocaching. Having done similar presentations for other causes before political units, I know it takes a lot of preparation and planning to do something like this and pull it off well, but the efforts usually pay off!
Well done!
The ones in the Black River area are definitely fun ones, we still have a lot of them to visit. We got the fire towers south of I-94, but there are a bunch more up in Bear Bluff country. We also enjoyed a bunch of them in northern Trempealeau county, and went down by Westby a couple days ago. Every time we get close to having half of them in our 50 mile radius, a bunch of new ones pop up. So even if we never get out of this area, we can stay busy.
Bandits, we’ve been doing what you guys do, picking a direction then planning out an order. I’ve looked on the google maps on the gc.site to figure out order and write out some road directions. This has been just fine so far, but Trekkin’ just wants to experience a few high numbers days to see what it’s like. I contend he already knows from his years doing crazy volkswalking runs, but he claims “this is completely different.”
O-kay.
I wonder if we have autorouting on ours? It’s a Magellan Explorist 400. We still have to figure out how to use the streets and maps progam.
I do think part of the “problem,” if you want to call it that, is our area. There are clusters of caches, but often, they are still challenging due to the topography here. The day we thought we’d go for 20, we just didn’t have our heads on straight. Black River Falls has a ton of them, but lots of those are within the vast state forest, and many of them are big hill climbs. So you drive on these back roads, find the hill and start the climb. Actually, I *love* those kinds of caches, but they sure don’t make for numbers. I think we had something like 15-18 targeted that day and managed to get to 9, one of those being a delightful DNF final stage of a multi in Perry Creek. Four of the ones we did were big fire tower climbs, at least a half mile from parking to hilltop. Two others were multis. We just kept laughing the whole day at our inability to choose wisely for a numbers day!
