We were going to canoe the Kickapoo today, but we’re going tomorrow instead. Less wind.
Does the new cat let you sleep in longer?
Looks like my birding life list is about to increase by a few. The board of the American Birding Association voted to include birds in Hawaii as part of the North American bird lists. Now I have to see if I can remember which ones I saw. There was one I just never IDed, and I didn’t get to see any endemics. They were all invasives. Most endemics have been driven out. 🙁
It seems my greatest asset as a Habitat volunteer is my lack of fear when it comes to working at roofline of a two story house on a ladder. I spent most of today at that elevation with an impact driver or staple gun.
I’ve never made the list. But I’m on the other side of the state, too.
After being at the “skilled nursing facility” since the very beginning of April, my dad is back home as of yesterday. They have made many modifications to the apartment and he has home health coming mornings and evenings, but I’m sure he’s happy to be there, instead of that other place. We hope to visit this weekend.
I was empaneled for a jury this morning, but got a peremptory cut. Mixed feelings there. Not much of a story, but it’s the best I have for now.
We spent the past few days up in Hurley and Ashland. Colors are past peak, but we hit a couple spots with gorgeous maples glowing all around. Trekkin’ has fallen off the “limited geocaching” wagon of late. We might have done 15% of the year’s caching in the past month. I hope to settle back down a bit after this coming weekend. (Halloween Hoopla)
I’m guessing that’s a hognose snake. They try to look scary, but that’s about all they can do. Still, even a garter snake can startle those of us who aren’t snake-phobic when they appear out of nowhere. Makes for a way better cache log story!
Glad to hear you’re doing okay, bartrod. Getting older is not for the faint of heart!
While I’ve been seeing and hearing them elsewhere for about a week, it’s official….the Juncos have returned to our yard!
We just got back from an overnight trip to Point. Got a new life bird on the (sort of) way there. Then took part in the owl banding program at Linwood Springs. I adopted a banded owl (not one that was there, just one they’ve banded) and named her Aizlyn. Also got to hold one that was netted, though I’m not sure how I actually feel about that. Fun short trip The fall colors seem to have peaked in central Wisconsin.
Hi koolma k. We did some nice EarthCache hikes on the IAT last weekend. The Monches segment has one, with several Mister Greenthumb caches on the way. No tree climbing!
We’ll be heading to Point later today. We may find a few caches, but the main reason is to take part in banding at a Saw Whet Owl banding station. Wish the forecast was a little better, though.
I actually need weather like this today, so I can get some chores done, LOL
Upper strut mounts wearing out. Cheap part, expensive labor. Going to talk to our next door neighbor, who has skills and house payments to make, LOL I don’t drive the car that much, for the most part.
Becca, I can’t remember if you’ve found the Wildcat one we created or not. Near Humbird. Ice Age Mystery, I think.
We headed to the eastern side of the state and did a big sweep of those babies. On Sunday, we found three….the Flowing Well in Jackson, Between Here and There on the IAT and the Drumlin one near Chilton. All nice ones.
Lime Squeeze is at the shop for a couple recalls, an oil change and check of a couple weird things that happened recently. Hopefully nothing serious. Cars are such a pain!
This was at the Ledgeview Nature Center in Calumet county, Bill. Whatever the last earthcache I logged was, it would be near that. To the north, I believe.
That is a really awesome county facility, by the way.
