Here’s something kind of cool. My dad has been staying at this nursing home a mile from home for pretty much most of this last year, after two separate leg amputations. Anyway, a new fellow moved in and they’ve been having dinner together (with Mom when she’s over there, too). The guy graduated from the Univ. of Mn School of Engineering in 1951 in Mechanical Engineering. So did Dad! It was a big class, so they didn’t know each other, but they’ve been having fun talking about one professor there, among other things.
We’ve encountered this with our virtuals, and also a couple ECs. If it’s clearly an armchair log…..multiple virtuals from all over the world on the same day…it gets deleted. With the ECs, we communicate with the person (who hasn’t sent answers) and if we get no response after a week…it’s gone. That falls under the category of maintenance for those cache types.
I know there have been virtual caches archived by groundspeak when the owner doesn’t follow up on that kind of thing. So we don’t like to ignore that when it happens.
That does sound pretty terrible. Yes, emergencies happen, but then try to make arrangements so the person affected can at least get around till the work is done. 🙁
I overlooked the 25 feet up part. Osprey?
The pizza farm was fun. They just started this two weeks ago, so they’re still working on the logistics. But we enjoyed spectacular views on the farm and eating pizza and visiting with total strangers. It IS National Night Out, right?
I’d be really surprised to see either a Snowy Owl or a Gyrfalcon this time of year, but I suppose it’s possible. Could it have been a wayward swan hunkered down?
I discovered there’s a pizza farm on the way to the upper part of my bird atlas block. They have five bucks all you can eat wood fired pizza tonight. Guess what’s for supper?
Linda, The cure is this…bring them to me!
I just put up five pints of bread and butter refrigerator pickles. The person hosting book club the other night served them and I have too many cucumbers! Sour dills are next.
Pooh’s Pal and I escaped the heat for a couple hours by going to see “Finding Dory.” It was fun, but I especially liked the short, “Piper,” right before it. Anyone who’s seen it would know why! Stay cool.
We had a lot of them to track challenge progress, and most often, the stats macro. With the ease of project gc, we’ve not used any of them in a long time. GSAK is still great for organizing our PQs, though.
So jar, did you quick and move your ladder? Those robins can be busy little birds, if you get my drift!
No caching plans here, but we haven’t been doing too much of that even when the weather’s nice. Last weekend was our binge. We’d have liked to do more hiking in the Kickapoo, but too hot for that, probably. For me…yoga in the morning, where the heat is always at 95 degrees anyway. Maybe some paddling in the kayak. I fell off the paddleboard at SUP yoga last night and it felt really good!
Just got back from stand up paddleboard yoga. I lost my balance once and went in the drink.
It felt SO refreshing!
So…. the Murphy women in my family have all been horsewomen at some point. I rode Western for a bit in college. Mom competed English style in her 20s. Neither of us has ridden since those days. My cousin has her own horse and still rides. I was talking with Mom about this, and she said…”I’d like to ride a horse again.”
After getting a recommendation from my cousin, it’s been decided that for Mom’s 92nd and my 63rd birthdays, we’ll do a trail ride together at this stable sometime in September. Mom approves of this plan!
I heard cicadas cuing up yesterday.
At least one person has died, details not released yet. Glad to hear you’re okay, Linda. Sounds like Saxon was hit pretty bad. Coast Guard was doing helicopter rescues of people stranded as well.
So a few of the 1/1 caches are temporarily 5/5s?
Beyond that right now. I know Linda’s posted elsewhere, and because Trekkin’s from there, the images are startling. We also just saw that one of the Iron county board members died in this flooding.
