I’m sorry to hear that, Noonan.  There is nothing worse than worry about your children, except for worry from afar.  I hope things improve quickly now.

We went down the river road to Cabelas in Prairie to get a couple items for our canoe camping trip next weekend.

Well, the winery we like is just across the river.

And there are a few caches, even.  We officially surpassed our total finds for last month with our six finds today.

We won’t be able to get the Get Outdoors souvenir because, well….we’ll be outdoors from Friday morning to Sunday night!  Not near any caches on Saturday.  I think we’ll survive.

Looks like the rain didn’t blast the peonies.  Can’t say I’ve ever seen yellow ones.

              Ugh, what a mess, BBG!

I spent four hours hiking the Experimental Forest, trying to confirm more breeding birds for my atlas block. I managed a measly four more. Leaves, leaves, leaves! It’s a jungle! Plus, many of the birds I know are breeding out there are ground nesters. I don’t want to get off trail and step on some eggs. And I have had two tantalizing ones out there that could be first in the county….if I could ever find them building a nest or carrying food or something like that.

Fun way to spend a good part of my day. Two tiny ticks. I did the geek thing, head scarf, pants inside socks. One was on the cuff of the sock, and another…I don’t know how it got there. Maybe fell down my neck inside my shirt.

                dulcimer … I didn’t guess though

C’mon CTQ, given that I made the post, you could have guessed! We saw him in concert many years back and he’s awesome. If he comes around with this album, I’ll be in the audience again.

Sheesh! What does a thief do with that? Is there a black market for shingles? I’m sorry you and your parents have to deal with this.

Bruce Hornsby’s new album, “Rehab Reunion,” will be released in a few days.  No piano.  He wrote all new music for one instrument in particular that he plays.

Guess what instrument it is?   😀

Sounds like we need a recipe!

Cute! We have a couple of nests around here. I think one is on her second brood, actually.

Our shiitake mushroom log actually sprouted three nice shrooms the other day.  We thought it was destined for the firepit.  Made one meal last night, will do a different dish tomorrow.  We wonder if we’ll get more.  They literally seemed to appear overnight after sitting out there two years post-inoculation.

                            Congratulations Erin!

We spent our afternoon at the winery harrassing Dick’s banjo teacher while he (teacher, not Dick) was performing there. Dramatic skies when we left. Tomorrow it’s a little “hakuna matata” in Madison.

I’m still sobering up from the wine we consumed while we enjoyed the winery. Some days it just doesn’t take much!

You should have told him you made “donations” to fund your college education and no, those are all mine. (evil laugh)

We found our fourth cache for the month today. We aren’t likely to find any more before June, but I suppose it could happen.

I’m curious to know if Perrot was considered at all. They do have a nice stone shelter with fireplace attached to the Nature Center. Downside is no playground equipment in the park, but our grandson enjoys it there just the same. I’m not sure about facilities at some of the other corner parks, like Wyalusing or Yellowstone, though I do know they are nice places to hike and camp.

Just some thoughts the next time this corner comes around the rotation. We’re fine with hanging out and being social, anyway.
