We went out kind of spontaneously to do the new virtual in the Dells today. I wouldn’t wait much longer….that last 85 feet is getting a little dicey now between the fallen leaves and icy patches…but no bugs and no jetskis!
In about an hour, I get to fight with our non-functioning garage door (opener isn’t working) to head into LaCrosse for my first storytelling gig in about forever. I’ve been practicing, not too much, just enough, so I feel primed. It’ll be nice to reconnect with some of my storytelling pals somewhere other than the book of faces, too.
Biggest pain is putting on makeup. I suppose I could skip it, but I figure I should at least try.
Posting 11/13 on page 1113. Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’, keep those wagons rollin’. And that ditty is from the western series called what?
“Rawhide.” Showing my age, perhaps.
As of yesterday, we are no longer cable TV users. Of course, now that we’ve kind of figured out how hulu works, we’re asking….why didn’t we do this years ago?
Actually, we tried, but that time, they came way back down in charges to what we’d paid early on, so we kept it. Yesterday the guy had no people skills whatsoever and just took our stuff and signed us off. Fine with us.
We had a scary moment there…..the internet disappeared! But we figured that out. Our only unknown now is whether we can use a roku stick on our non-smart TV. I’d look in the back if I could, but Trekkin’s watching the Vikings I think.
We never used to watch any tv. I’m not sure how this happened!
We’re cutting cable as I type. Waited until after the game, though. Tomorrow Trekkin’ will bring all the stuff that belongs to Charter back and tell them sayonara. I’d be fine with the cheap hulu, but I guess we need live hulu. (sports, you know) Still way cheaper than what we’ve been paying Charter for TV.
I got my new title today. I kinda like it. What do you all think?
I like it! A lot. Although I don’t know if I ever did know what your day job is. Still….this is cool!
Our dog got the all clear from the lumpectomy, and after a few days of helping our son finish things up at their (now sold) home, he just back after a long drive back to Colorado. All’s well in our world…well kind of, other than missing our son and his family.
The clock in my basement workshop is again correct. It takes a bit of patience to fix some things.
That’s been my approach to the one in my car, though it drives Trekkin’ bonkers when he gets in it.
Well, we’re doing it; have a cute little apartment booked for the month of February in Natchez. We talk about downsizing, too, but it hasn’t happened. We’re going to talk with the neighbor who loves running his snowthrower if he’d like to earn a few bucks running it down our sidewalks if it snows. Our son can check on the place a few times a week before or after work. We should be good.
Considering snowbird-ing. Our son and his family are safely out in CO now. Trekkin’ is sick of our long winters, but we do enjoy *some* winter still. So…..I looked into Air BNBs in Natchez MS, one of the towns we visited on our trip that we enjoyed. We could rent a cute little place right downtown (probably we walked right past it) including our dog. I don’t want to be gone all winter and I don’t want to go to some snowbird park, but a month away in February to explore might be fun. We’ll see…
The host is even a saxophonist. Wonder if there are arrangements for banjo, sax, dulcimer and howling dog?
Remember scrapbooking? I have donated so much of my stuff to worthy programs and still could make cards and stuff into the next century with what I still have. Another of those OCD type pastimes!
Love scrapbooking! It is one of the things I have been passing the time with as I recover. It can get expensive, so I limit what I choose to scrapbook.
Debby, Tell me what kinds/colors/themes you’d like. I probably have stuff here I can send to you. Seriously. I was on a few design teams back in the day and they were happy to feed my habit to show off their stuff. Plus all the other stuff I accumulated. I would love to pass some of my largesse on to someone I know who can use it. I gave a lot of stuff to the local addictions center when they were starting a women’s craft program there.
I was on a tour of one of the paper mills in Appleton several years back and it was a lot more interesting than I’d thought it would be. Mrs. Timberline Echoes and I took part in a scrapbooking retreat up there hosted by Club Scrap.

Did someone say beer? I’ll take that peanut butter porter over there if noone else wants it.
You know, that always sounds so gross, but….a couple weeks ago, we were at a house concert, where a local home brewer/vintner serves up some goodies before the concert. One of the musicians recommended his chocolate peanut butter stout, so I took her advice. It…was….good.
We can highly recommend “Foggy Notion” IPA at Pulpit Rock Brewery in Decorah. We would have liked to try more than just one, but….driving.
