Are we meeting these expectations, or is it all smoke and mirrors?
I have been called naive in the past, but from my viewpoint, I think we have been doing a pretty fair job of it. We may be a little weak on CITO events, but I do see a regular effort by our cachers to clean as we go.
I believe we have done well.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m in no way implying that the board or the members are not meeting the goals, but rather looking to restate them at election time and to refresh in every ones mind exactly what this organization is about…and Yes I agree that your statement is a fair and accurate one.
I took your question to be constructive and timely. I did not see it as criticism. Thank you for bringing this up as the concepts presented are central to our existence. We should never lose sight of these principles.

Why are the number of posts made by each candidate listed? I think most posts are just opinions and really have no bearing on the ability to lead but I may be wrong. No, I’m not.
I for one, would rather see a listing of Wisconsin counties each candidate has cached in. That to me would show how their decisions would be based more on Wisconsin Geocaching as a whole rather than a specific area.
Explore Wisconsin is the motto and that should be reflected by the WGA!

I would agree that candidates should know ther territory, know their fellow cachers and the caches they are placing and finding. But, communication is a big part of the leadership role as well. Ideally, a candidate should be active on the trails, on the forums and at events. Let’s find a number of such cachers and take them to our polls. tb

I just don’t get the attraction.
…provides for me an excuse to go to IL…
You don’t need an excuse. Within 10 miles of Zion, IL (ZIP 60099) you will find over 100 caches offering almost anything you would want in a cache. Within 50 miles, there are almost 2500 caches. Check out the Batavia area (ZIP 60510) as well, there are over 200 caches within 10 miles. We mixed the BoB caches with others and found it tolerable, but it was the other caches that put some spark into the day. Illinois has a lot of great caches to visit. Don’t wait for the BoBs to be reactivated.
Now is the time for you, our members to make your voices heard. Every member should be giving consideration to nominating, running and voting for your representatives on the WGA board of directors. Trudy and I will again be looking among our peers for cachers who know our trails, our concerns, our dreams and our community. We will be submitting at least a dozen names for consideration just as we have for past elections, and we challenge you to do the same. Only by getting involved, can we expect the very best. ~T&tb
We had difficulty doing more than 15-20 of them at a time. We never did finish the series. We found that they take about 5-10 minutes each. There are some cachers that finished the series in one day (Lost Grunts, and others). We hope you enjoy the adventure.
Kudos, Justin! Now on to 700… & 1K 😛

Very cool! We will watch for it, since I think we had a T &TB sighting this weekend.
We were in your neighborhood Saturday, but are you sure you didn’t spot a bag lady with a fur coat? Or, was it the beast?
4000 kudos from T&tb
We would also like to add our kudos. Great going Puck team!
WGA camp-outs have been held mid to late May. There may be an added conflict here.

Cool map. I think it’s a few days behind though. It shows Kenosha with < 1 inch of snow. I just spent 2 days clearing 17 inches of snow!
Any idea how often they update the map?
The map is interactive; you reset it. use the options at the left, then redraw the map for the options you have selected. Time is real military time (zulu); that is GMT in the 24 hr format or CST + 6 hours.
I see about 8-12 inches on the ground in Racine right now.

Trudy & I have been caching year-round since we started. We spend less time outdoors in the winter, some days have been limited to no more than one or two. We are a lot more selective in the winter and tend to stick to urban caches. Today we were in Green Bay. We avoid micros in the winter and try to take advantage of winter events. We also cache in the rain. Weather does not stop us.
EARTH DAY (Mid-late April) is the date Groundspeak annually promotes CITO events. Actually, anyone who is so inclined may sponsor a CITO event at any time of year. Minnesota cachers have one planned on 12/10/06 (GCZDEK) Winona’s CITO Festival. At this time, I am not aware of any up-coming CITO events in Wisconsin. ~tb
