I logged both times that I took the cards even though I wasn’t sure if I was suppose to take the t&b magnet. if it was a mistake, I thought they would email me and I would put it back (local cache).

Actually we were flattered to find someone valued our card enough to take it home and display it with their children’s art.

The topis is in fact, rather timely. We had 1000 cards printed and are now down to less than 100 left. 80% of the responders here read and or collect these cards. We believe this is reason enough to continue (print another 1000). We plan on returning to Door County soon. Let us know how you like the second edition. ~tb

We have been leaving our card since our second month in the game. This is the first complaint we have heard. We paid for the artwork, we paid for the printing. The cards have value as a wooden nickel does. They were not intended to be litter. We enjoy finding the cards of our geo-friends in our caches and when we are caching in remote areas. I don’t feel we need to appologize for what some may feel is an inconvenience. ~tb

I view this issue as being driven by outsiders to conform to their way of doing things. JO in NB went to an event where the other six attendees each logged one attended. AH went to a huge event in RX with 28 others who each logged their one attended. No temps, no multiple logs, just a bunch of people gathered around a camp fire and complaining about the FUN we have at WGA events.

We are not talking about a change of rules here, we are talking about how we plan our parties. We should not feel obligated to do it the way the rest of the world does it or says we should do it. These are our events. They have been done this way since 2001. Thjeir popularity has grown to the point where we are bringing several scores of cachers and they are coming from greater distances than ever before. Why, because we are having FUN. Change the formula and we can all be doing what they do in other states. WGA events are great the way they are. We don’t need to listen to a bunch of winers on gc.com complaining about right or wrong. What is wrong with our events? Some people can’t get to them. What is right about them? They are enjoyed by all who attend.

in reply to: Where are the Jeeps? #1759352

I did a random check of 100 yellow jeeps and 100 white jeeps and found that in 2004, 20 white jeeps never got into circulation and only 9 are listed in caches. The 2005 crop did a little better with 12 jeeps not getting into circulation and 14 listed in caches today.

Playing with the numbers, it looks like there are 100-200 jeeps in 186,000 caches. And, there are 800-900 jeeps in the pockets of 22,000 cachers in 216 countries.

Conclusion: your odds of finding a jeep are better if you are shaking-down a fellow cacher (4%) than if you are combing the woods (0.1%). You might also consider moving on to another country to search for them after you have found more than a dozen at home.

Your odds of finding an operating Ground Round Restaurant may be better than finding a jeep.

The Garmin 60 at top center belongs to Trudy, the other two Garmin 60’s belong to the the beast and to sbukosky. These were assembled for a scout outing in February. Natloh2 brought us there.

You must be at least 5’6″ tall to reach some of them. They are all urban. There are a lot ov narrow and occasionally “one-Way” streets; you will need to be careful where you park. You may want to mix in a few “normal” caches. T&tb have been unable to visit more than 20-30 at a time due to boredom setting in. Budget about 5 minutes per cache. Have fun.

I like the initiative! Now if we could only camoflage our smoke stacks, water and electrical towers, and our light and utility poles we might be able to clean up our urban vistas. ~tb
