This topic is an excellent one for the consideration of every member of our community. To answer Skreeminweezul’s question, each of chooses to accept the risks associated with a cache when we use the web pages to set out on that hunt. Each of us is free to abort our search at any time we feel the risks outweigh the rewards of that search. It is easy to forget that we assumed the risks we have and difficult to learn to turn away from an incomplete search. The most important point here is that if you feel the risks are out of line, then include that in your logs.
Keep on caching and keep it fun.

Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion. The method I use is considerably less work than your method, but no where as simple as a script would be. I think I will stick with my method for a while. It allows me to identify new cachers as well. Searching on a user name would require that I have that name first.

late note…
watch the Folk Trakers. They went to a wedding in Cincinatti, one of the most cache-rich areas in the midwest. They may not be logging until Tuesday or Wedsnesday.
tb… lost somewhere in north-central Ohio
We would love to join you, but alas, we are now lost somewhere in north-central Ohio.
tbYour totals arn’t firm. Geotrippers and RPaske are behind on their logs. The Lil Otter may have a few to post as well.

Jeff….
You missed The Searchers with 417 caches found.

Is that EAT a franchise of some kind? is seems to me I have seen several others. Kind of a McD’s for adults I think. In competition with CAFE.
We might find our way up there now and again… Go for it!

We haven’t done UWGB Campus Trail, Treasure Trail or A piece of Wilderness. I can agree with Miata on the others. Little cache on the Prairie, while it is relatively simple, will require a little more thought than your average traditional. It can be difficult if you are thinking about an average cache in the woods. Swamp Trail can be interesting; go with a friend.
JV had used a script in the past. It is probably somewhat dated now. Lil’ Otter caught this one at one of her caches – King Among Men – I believe. I havn’t checked it yet.
I have a list of Wisconsin cachers in an Excel spreadsheet with a dated count of caches. A rather simple arrangement, that I update manually, daily. It takes from one to three hours a day to keep them current. The advantage I get from doing this is that it keeps me familiar with cachers and caches. Then too, I am somewhat of a detail nut.

There are a number of great caches between here and Green Bay. Here are some thoughts on a few you might consider. There are several other worthy candidates as well.
Culvert Cache by TeamPutnam rated at 2.5/2.5 we felt was more like 1.5/1.5. but this one has a special twist. You will be lead to a dead end residential street with a municipal pump-house on the end. The pump-house is disguised as a home. A home with a few differences. Windows are tinted, no drapes. Huge(!) exhaust fan on one end. No mail box. See what kind of story you cane come up with for the amusement of your Newbie friend.
Tenner’s Bug Hotel in Green Bay is the 1/1 you might send a newbie out alone to find. Give a bug a lift.
Thraxman’s classic Cato Car Crash Cache is a must do. 2/2.5
Stairmaster 2002 by The Nelson Team in Manitowoc will get your blood pumping. This is not a drive-by. You will need to hike a little over a mile on Hilly terrain. Rated as 3/3.5 we thought it was closer to 1/3.5.
3/2 in Manitowoc Abe and His Animals is a simple cache in a wonderful park. We thought was more like a ‘1/2. Maybe we missed something.
Thraxman’s Moscow We Have a Problem is a great stop for puzzle solvers as well as history buffs. Manitowoc 1/2.5 3wp multicache.
For a real treat, stop at You Can’t Be Serious in Manitowoc. It is a 4.5/3 but if you have done it before, It could be exciting to a newbie as you coach them through it. This is a four-time(?) nominee for cache of the month. By Team Rusch.
G’cache [Good Catch!] Lil’ Otter!
BTW, these postings are not proprietary. You or anyone else who catches a fellow cacher achieving something should feel free to post it. I welcome the relief. I love to acknowledge these things, but finding others beating me to the punch is a treat to me. This means that If I should miss one, it will not go unnoticed.
Thank you for bringing this one to our attention.
