I’ve been wearing the survival strap for about 5-6 weeks now. I wear it pretty much 24/7 except in the shower, though it’s made it in there a few times too. I like it. It’s durable, it looks nice and as much abuse as it takes from me at work and play, it literally still looks brand new. Chemicals don’t seem to harm it. Abrasives either. It takes a beating well. My only complaint is the comfort level. Thats not to say it’s uncomfortable, just that the web-site read that it would soften up in time with regular use. I can’t remember the length of time spoken of, but it seemed to me like a few weeks was the impression it gave. 5-6 weeks later, it’s still hard and not very flexible. It does fit nice and keeps the exact shape of my wrist. Anyone with carpal tunnel would not enjoy this bracelet. Anyone spending hours on a PC, would also not enjoy this bracelet. 20 mins on the PC, and the circulation in my hand gets cut off from the pressure of my wrist against the desk. They are thick, and have zero give.

Welcome to the WGA and to geocaching!

The best way in from the south is Hyw 50. Exit 94 west, then turn North on 75. If you want the scenic route, Exit 94 west to 156th Ave. Turn north to Hwy K, then west to Hwy 75, then North to the park.
TDSKid and I won’t be able to attend on Saturday due to a prior obligation. Still, if we can be of help, have someone contact me ahead of time and we’ll be there at 7:00 or whenever needed.

School Fees and Excessive Field trip Fees!!!
Ok, I don’t know about other people and how the schools in their areas work but here is my pet peeve for my local school district:
Registration Fee runs roughly $60-$70 per kid (I have 2)
Technology Fee roughly $40-45
Some classe have additional fee
A list of supplies that includes, kleenex, aluminum foil, hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, ziplock baggies, several pkg’s of markers, around 200 pencils, ect… total for 2 kids around another $120-$150
Then there are pictures, at the beginning of school with the standard photographer, runs 20-40 per kid, then pictures again (with a much nicer photographer)around March for 30-40 a kid
Fieldtrips $6-$43!!!!!!! (and there are enough trips… trust me, the average is around $12)
Now, I pay high rent (which covers the taxes the property has to pay for this area), taxes are fairly high in this area, among the things they cover is the public school. Now, with all that money…. why can’t they afford kleenex, and why to the kids have to take coach busses on field trips???
I remember we took a school bus, and traveled up to 2+hrs and we survived!!!
(Sorry, just got the slip on my sons $43 end of the year fieldtrip and the bill for the March photos…. over $100!!)I hear ya. There’s not a week that goes by that there’s not another expense envelope coming home from school. It’s worst at the begining of the year, and at the end. Now tack on instrument rentals, lessons and hot lunches, and I think a third of my paycheck goes to the school system. Hey, at least my boy is getting the best education available. 😯
No disrespect to any of you school teachers out there, you guys are overworked and underpaid I know. I’ll be one of you soon enough!
If help is still needed for the breakfast, let me know. TDSKid and I will be glad to flip some pancakes or help however we can.
OK now they have feathers and are taking over the world. 😯 (see thread stealers)
Bong ticks. Hmm. Lazy and like cheeto’s. Hmm. Ain’t goin there. 😆
P.S. Bong Ticks HATE Lemon Eucalyptus. But you have to reapply every two hours.
Bong ticks are lazy in this weather. They prefer hot a humid over cold and wet. They are there, but they have not come out in force yet. The weather is supposed to be cool the rest of the week, so I’d guess there won’t be many ticks camping with you all this year. The recent frost may have helped a lot too.
Congrats on the 1k Milestone!!!
The first time’s the toughest to deal with, but after a while you’ll be used to it. It’s part of the caching game unfortunately. The more hides you have, the more time you’ll spend doing maintenance.
I have a cache in Racine that needs replacing again. I can’t remember how many times it’s been now. It’s an annoyance because its’ at the end of a breakwater, and far from home. Thankfully my son and I love the location. But ammo can, after ammo can keeps disappearing, along with all the swag and logbooks. In 4 years, I’ve never once been able to read any of the logs left in this cache. I did have the opportunity this spring when I checked on the cache to see if it survived the winter, but it was so cold, I didn’t take the time to read it. 😕
But, I’ll be going back again this week, with another ammo can, more GOOD swag, and another log book. Small price to pay to keep this one active.
I can’t complain, but sometimes I still do…
Thanks Joe!Don’t let it bother you! And I hate to say it but, get used to it! 🙁
