I just got a new phone right about Thanksgiving. It’s a Samsung Memoir that can surf the web, and has Telenav navigation as well. Still, I don’t see myself using the nav system while on the trail, but, and this is probably going to be a rare thing, I can see having web-access being handy on occasion when looking for a clue for a hard to find cache. Secretly, it’s aprt of the reason I chose the phone. I’ll most likely get more use out of the 8MP camera it has. One less thing to carry on the trail.
Lot’s of WOW’s here, so I’ll add to them. W O W ! ! !
Funny, I thought the whole world was our own. I wonder when the rest of the world will wake up and see that we’re all one big family on this planet, and start working for a better world, not a better country/state/city/neighborhood/self.
Congrats on 2k!
Funny I should read this post for the first time today. Today, the day after there were six people shot in Milwaukee in one evening.
P.S. because of the arrangement of the photo album, some of the best pictures are further in.
We have a local phone-a-friend list going on another site. It has worked very well in the past. The list is exclusive to members of the site, and that would of course have to continue here at the WGA if we were to proceed with it.

Not that I am not a caring person, but I myself will not be sending a dime to Haiti. I think its funny that people will send money to organizations with the hope that it is doing good somewhere. But would not send the same amount to a local food pantry, or help a neighbor in need.
Its time for the US to start helping itself, Let some of the other UN countries do there part.
When Katrina happened you did not see other countries coming to help us.
I only donate to local organizations ONLY nothing national, Our local church has a pantry, there is a thrift shop in Wabeno, and instead of the national humane society, I give to our local shelter in Oconto.
Giving is giving. Thanks for doing what you do.
On another note, be cautious where you send your money. Some foundations take a little more for their overhead than others. The red Cross makes sure $.91 of every dollar goes to helping directly. only $.09 per dollar is used for overhead.
I couldn’t agree more.
Donate to the Red Cross directly
You can also text “Haiti” to 90999 to donate $10 to the American Red Cross. This will show up on your cell phone bill. You can text up to three times to donate a total of $30
Even if a single dollar is all you can donate, DO IT! Every bit helps!!!
I’ve left a DVD player, cash, unactivated geocoins, new Snap-On tools, a mag-lite, clues to other puzzles of mine and several other cool/valuable items.
But to answer your question, no, I don’t think it’s necessary.

Would you as a board member like the option to have temporary caches logged on the event page brought back at WGA events or would you rather the current policy of disallowing this practice be continued?
🙂 Oh no, not again 🙂

Firewall on, File and printer sharing, Remote Desktop and UPnP Network are only boxes unchecked in “exceptions”.My question is, could some one gain access to my computer when it’s on and I’m not monitoring it?
Could someone gain access when it’s powered down?
Do you have a wired router or are you just running off the RR modem? I remember reading somewhere with the right commands you could see all the computers in your node with RoadRunner, not sure if they fixed it or not. As others have said, a hardware firewall is an important step in security.
No, just the RR modem. Think I have my issue worked out. I turned off automatic Windows update about a year ago, and removed all the previous patches and updates. My computer ran a whole lot better after doing it. Now though, someone gained access and it had to be when I was on the PC because it’s always powered down when not in use. Not just powered down, but the power strip is turned off too.
I just disabled the only cache that I do disable in the winter. Match Head. You wouldn’t want to hunt this one this time of year. You’d be playing with your life.
We lucked out here in Kenosha, at least the part right next to the lake where I live. When I came home from school last night the roads were pretty bad, and it was coming down pretty hard. I went to bed around 11:00 and there was about an inch and a half to two inches on all the surfaces, but the temperature was 43°. I woke up this morning to green grass, and no snow at all. Nothing! Everything was wet and looked like it had just rained all night.
Welcome to the WGA!
