Experience matters, and since they’ve both done a great job with their current terms, I’ll recommend Ralph and Renee.

I would like to thank everyone as well. For their questions, for their comments and for the nomination for which I was humbled by. I’d also like to wish all of my fellow running mates good luck, and no matter the outcome, I can tell we are going to have another board made up of very dedicated WGA members.

Good luck to you all, and thank you everyone for your support!

The Pack. There is no other answer, because there is no other team in football. Not a real team anyway. Good or bad, the pack is a family, a small town family, with a fan base that stretches way beyond the boundaries of Wisconsin. I was raised on The Pack. My Grandfather played for the Acme Packers from 1919-1921. We are currently trying to get his named filled in on the blank spot under his picture in the hall of fame. There are two blanks, the big guy on the left is my Grand dad. Edward Sampson. He was a fullback, and line-backer. To be anything but a Packers fan in my family, means being disowned! 🙂

As far as attendance goes, I have to echo Ralph’s first paragraph, and add that the economy probably has some to do with it as well. I also believe many members use these forums as their place to share their concerns, wants and needs now which may also contribute to the lack of attendance at the open meetings.

Question #2 and #3 go hand in hand, and I’m not sure there is a way to “ensure that members are being fully represented”. This requires the participation of the membership, which seems to relate to your questions. I believe there is more that can be done to bring attendance up to help in this matter though. Educating people on the importance of attending and having their voices heard for instance. Encouraging participation at the events always seems to help people get more involved and help spread the word too.

in reply to: Empowered Committees #1942509

Thank you for your question Ralph.

I fully support the empowered committees, as I have served on them for a few years. I currently sit on the Membership Committee, Website Committee, Geocoin Committee and the Community Education Committee.

I cannot take credit for any individual accomplishments on these committees, as it is a team effort. But in this past year we have created brochures and handouts for community education, both for the public and for police/first responders. We created and minted the new 2010 Geocoin and Pathtag. We completely revamped the COTM and COTY project and made it better, and more fair for the membership. And the website committee has been one project after another with many, many changes made, and coming very soon. I’d Like to take this space to publicly thank Brian of Team Black Cat for all of his hard work with this project. He deserves a HUGE portion of the credit for much of what has been done, and the upcoming changes.

With all the changes being made within the WGA, I don’t think it possible for just the board to handle alone. Whether elected or not, I intend to stay with all of these committees, and I don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. I truly enjoy contributing to these committees and to the WGA membership.

I replied to this question yesterday, why it didn’t post, I do not know.

I imagine that I would ask to be used for any project that best fits my skill set, or where I could be used the most. Now if you’re asking me personally what project I’d ask to be assigned, I would have to ask to work the Geocoin project, simply because that was the project I had the most fun with last year. A close second would be educating community leaders, because this seems to be an area that could benefit our sport the most.

Unfortunately, I do not get to choose when I am on call at work. And when I am on call, I cannot travel very far. 30 minutes maximum.

However, If i have the dates correct, and my on-call schedule does not change (rarely does)I will be able to attend and help with the September Picnic, but I will be on call every day of the camp-out.

    Welcome to the WGA!

As with the sport we all love so much, I don’t believe that numbers matter. A good example is someone that lives in a remote region of the state, and therefor does not have access to as many caches. This person could be very active in the caching community, but just not have a lot of finds. Personally, I believe a persons passion and commitment to the sport should outweigh how many find/hides they have.

Wow, support from the top! Could it be???

Can I just put a ditto next to Renee post? I don’t want to take up valuable server space when I would have said it the exact same way. 😉 🙂

I too feel the board is moving in the right direction, and has been for some time. So much has been accomplished recently and I’m excited at the chance to be more involved with it.

I however, am never content to just go with the flow, or be satisfied with how things are. I believe that as a board member, I would carry this strength with me, to strive for more improvements, while upholding and maintaining what has already been accomplished.

One thing I have learned from serving on the committees that I serve on, is that good enough, is rarely good enough, and we are always looking for ways to make improvements and satisfy the needs of the members, and the community.

in reply to: How would you spend your caching time? #1942183

In this alternate universe, I would attempt to find 7 caches a day. The first day I would travel 7 miles to find a cache. The second, I would travel for 7 hours. On the third day, I’d do a 7 part multi. On the fourth day, I’d travel 77 miles for one. On the fifth, I’d travel 77 minutes. On the 6th day, I’d take 7 friends, to 7 caches in 77 minutes, all within 77 miles of home. On the 7th day, I’d plant 7 caches.

My answer is short and simple. No long write up this time. I am not a quitter. ❗
