When we create new WGA banner images using the new logo, we plan to include two new features:
– Dynamic images. You will be able to optionally select a banner graphic that will dynamically / periodically change (this change will be automatic; you won’t touch your cache page HTML). We will use this to “advertise” upcoming WGA events and important activities. Right now, it would probably have something about voting for the Board and Cache of the Year. Again, this will be optional… you will still have the ability to use simple banner images with just the WGA logo that will not change.
– Dynamic WGA link. Instead of having the cache page banner images link to the WGA home page, the plan is to link to a special dynamic page. For non-members (those not logged in to the WGA site), this page would display information about the WGA and link to the form people can use to join. For members, we’d have a listing of important recent WGA news AND have information on how they can add a similar banner graphic to their own cache pages. For everyone, if the visitor clicked on one of our dynamic images “advertising” something, we’d also display information about that event or activity.
Great plan!
I wasn’t getting them for months, then all of a sudden they started showing up again. Wonder if it had something to do with finally remembering to pay my membership? 😉 😆
Looks like I found my new players!

I am still curious on why stacking coordinates raises a “red flag” for reviewing and approving new listings.
I’m just guessing here, but I would think any proximity problems with submitted coords (actual or not) would trigger a “red flag”.
Looks like you’ve got one solve at least.
But the simple fact is that we voted, and this more or less, is the logo that won.
Al Gore please speak up. 😀
However, when put to a vote, I voted for this design. This design before the brown was added anyway. I doubt I would have voted for this logo with the brown state.
What I’d like to see changed? The brown state part.
Either:
A. Use energy savers “map” design
B. Break up the brown with a compass rose or something, ANYTHING
C. Go back to the green state and lettering. The more I see this design, the less I like it. But if we stick with it, so be it, it’s a fresh look compared to the old logo. I’ll leave it up to the board to decide whether or not we need to take another look at this. Should the board decide to review the decision, I think we need to stay with this design, but spruce it up a bit.
If the board speaks up now and says this is a done deal, then lets move on please.
Yes I do. Every one of my cache pages has the WGA logo and link.
:sigh:
😆
I’d say organized, but there are different places for different things.
Both GPS’r’s sit in their car mounts on top of my tool chest. I caching backpack with alll of our gear sits in a chair in the bedroom. My cache making stuff has it’s own bench in my shop in the basement, and my walking sticks are proudly dispalyed in the living and dining room.
The best place to start is somewhere you know well. I childhood hangout, or even just a favorite place you like to hike in the woods.
As for placement, that’s up to you. Keep in mind that caches last longer, and can be found more easily in winter if you don’t place them on the ground.
Other than that, just pick a place you like, and chance are, so will others.
It’s also not a bad idea to have a bunch of finds under your belt first. Had I found a few more caches before I started hiding them, I could have saved myself a lot of time and trouble! Think about what you have found, and what you liked or disliked about each of them, and how or what you would change to make them “your own”. Then go hide a cache.
Welcome to the WGA!
Handheld: Magellan
In car: GarminI’ll take 8/27/09. I think they’ll reach the goal together.
I know a better place in WI, well I bet we all do. My favorite though is a B&B in Sturgeon Bay called The Chanticleer Bead and Breakfast. I highly recommend the poolside Grand Suite. Private Sauna and 8 person whirlpool, huge cobblestone fireplace and all the wood you can burn. You even get your own piano, and a king size featherbed.
No laptops allowed. 😉
It’s so cold…
