Second, those caches named Walgreens #XX or Starbucks #XX (or Home Depot #X

And fourth of all, #X is trademarked! 😆

The top photo looks more like vultures than eagle, and the bottom pic is an obvious photoshop.

Eagles are extremely territorial by nature. I think you will most likely never find large groups of them like we see pictured here.

Turns out Dick’s is now Piggly Wiggly. And they do sell organic foods there. Organic vegetables are limited, but it’s a start.

    Sweet deal, thanks all.

I did a quick search in the Garmin just now, and there is a Dick’s Super in Dodgeville as well as a Walmart.

I’m going to make a few calls this afternoo and this evening to find out if any of the local stores sell organic foods. There are a bunch of little Mom&Pop type stores in the area, so chances are good. I’ll post back my findings if anyone is interested.

Ken, both of these made our to do list. I’m looking forward to them. We’re planning on hitting them on Saturday morning .

After reading this post, I want to thank Groudspeak for stepping up and listening to the geocaching community.

I seriously think this may make the reviewers job somewhat easier. It will give them a little latitude to make the decisions, rather than having to just turn down caches and refer them to groundspeak.

The way they have it worded now is perfect, it finally makes sense to me. It allows for simple mentions of places we’d like to bring attention to, while at the same time deterring outright advertisements.

    Bravo!!!

Cool! That will help me out with this puzzle cache I am working on. I was having trouble lacing up my NIKE shoes (they feel great!), so I went to SHOPKO (can’t beat those prices) to get some new laces. But on the way I grabbed a STARBUCK’S MOCHA_LATTE (mmmmmm refreshing!) and some SUBWAY (eat fresh!)

but when I put all this in my cache description, they USED to deny me…. but now I am free and clear!! (Just like my face after using this BATH & BODY WORKS FOAMING FACE SCRUB!)

    😆

But you got the Subway motto wrong. It’s “Subway, Eat Lettuce”

There are also a bunch of private sites in the park still available.

    We’ll bring some charcoal.

On that subject, is there another place besides the dinky little grocery store in Dodgeville, where we can shop for food and charcoal when we get there?

We stayed in Dodgeville last year when visiting House on the Rock, and there wasn’t much more in that town than a small grocer, a 1 screen theater and a Ford dealer. Oh yeah, forgot the fancy shmancy PizzHut!

We loved the town, there just wasn’t much there.

Ralph, it’s on our list as well. I spoke to the cache owner just yesterday and he said he would check on all the stages of the cache prior to the campout to make sure everything was in place for us.

Saturday morning works for us too! We’ll see you there.

    Feakin’ Appleton would be awesome.

I haven’t been there in almost 10 years, and have been waiting for a reason to go back.

I hope it’s just like it used to be, and not changed so much like K-town has in that time.

last time I was there, people went out of their way to say hello to you on the streets. Everyone was friendly, even while in traffic. It was amazing and I hope it still is.

So, yes, High Cliff would be a great place to hold the picnic.

    What can I bring??? 😀

I see my geocaching.com stats as a personal log book and not a public boast of my find count.

This is the best, most succinct, and most complete argument supporting the practice of being able to log every cache you find using your GPSr…I never did understand why the “anti-temp-logging” people cared a whit about what other people did. Quit nosing into other people’s stats, step away from your PC, and get out and cache.

I agree gotta run. Ostracon said a lot of things that needed saying, but that sentence is indeed the best, most clear statement related to logging temps. In the past, I logged temps myself, and that “personal logbook” way of looking at the stats is exactly why I do not go back and delete the finds.

    zuma

    Ditto.

I too have logged temp caches as extra attended, because at the time, I was told it was the norm. But after finding out that the rest of the world of geocachers doesn’t log them, and they look down on us as a whole, I didn’t want to be a part of it anymore. I didn’t want to be the cause of the frustration of the rest of the caching world.

I never went back and deleted my old logs for those temps because I don’t want anyone to think I’m trying to hide the fact that I did log them. On the contrary, I’m proud of those finds, and hate the fact that ones since, and ones in the future won’t count. But the fact is, they don’t. And unless we want to get groundspeak to change the rules for us, and us alone, we have to live with it.

Complaining about the problem will solve nothing. I would like the finds to count, but not enough that it’s worth the effort to do something about it. It just does not mean that much to me. But the image of Wisconsin as a whole does. That’s why I supported the decision to stop logging.

Now, if the few of you who find this issue that important and want to get together and petition groundspeak to change the rule, or make temporary finds count towards out find totals. I support that too. I’ll even sign the petition. But I’m not going to go out of my way to do it for you, because it’s not that important. It’s just a number. Caching is about friends, it’s about the outdoors, and it’s about the finds.

    It’s just a number.

    It’s just a number.

    It’s just a number.

The human brain has incredible storage capacity, and comes in a nice carrying case that’s hard to lose, try using it instead of tech.

Then again, it’s operating system siezes up just about as often as Windows Vista. At least mine does. 😆

in reply to: Anyone try WhereIgo yet? #1888869

Whereigo doesn’t interest me, which should be a surprise since I’m a tech lovin’ guy.

When it comes to caching though, simplicity is what I’m looking for. You’ll never see me with printouts or a PDA.

I’m in caching for where I go, not Whereigo.

To each his own though. Maybe someday after I’ve found every cache there is to be found, you’ll see me sporting a Colorado. Of course by then, they’ll have GPS implants. 😆
