My Magellan Meridian did pretty well. I got a good lock and kept inside the house, which is two story and brick. Although I can’t get any further than maybe 20 feet from a window.
Hmm. I wonder if it’ll work in the basement…
… Nope.
I’d love to see another of the GPS flag game (or whatever it was called) from the WGA Picnic, repeated at the campout. It was interesting to see how GPS’rs differed. This time it would be cool to see not only the team name on the flag, but what type of GPS’r was used too.
Yes, the older Magellans seems to be between the etrexes and the newer Garmins. From what I’ve heard, the Explorists are about like the Etrexes, more or less a step down from the Meridians. Kind of a shame really, as those older Magellans were known for working well in tree cover.
I have yet to lose my signal while caching with my Meridian, no matter how bad the cover or weather. It’s why I hate to replace it, and probably won’t until it’s dead.

Glad to have you back.

You may also want to take a look at this thread where Groundspeak has helpfully started to list the changes they make to the website. It looks like they made some recent changes to how HTML is handled in cache listings. That caused some unexpected effects, but it looks like they got it figured out and everything should be working properly again.
If you’re having problems that seem to be related to a recent update, that’s the thread where you should probably post what issues you’re having.
Thanks Dave, that’ll be handy.
They need NEMESIS cammo.

So what are YOU doing to save the Earth today?
I biked to work… 😛
This morning I brought my son to school with 5 boxes of garbage bags and urged his teacher and principle to allow the children to go outside and pick up garbage. The crew will be doing the same after work/school/soccer practice this evening.
I’ve also opened a new permanent CITO cache in a troubled area here in K-town this week. The FTF (3Hawks) has already carried out an armload including a lawn chair. For his efforts he found $1.36 in the process!!!
I’m also going to have a talk with my car tonight and tell her that she needs to calm her turbo. She gets all excited when she sees me coming! 🙂
We already unplug everything but the fridge when not in use. The whole house is CF bulbs. We recycle, shop at Goodwill as often as possible. Buy almost exclusively organic foods, and we try desperately to buy locally grown/made products, although that seems to be getting more difficult by the day.
You’ve taken all the routes I would have. Don’t be afraid to ask the cache owner for a hint. I don’t mind asking, and I don’t mind giving.

While I understand that not every contingency and scenario can be codified in a rule made available to the geocaching public, this one should be, given the likelihood of people to attempt to place caches based on existing precedent. (Yes, I know precedent isn’t a criteria for publication–that’s not my point here.)
Now, the WGA is not gc.com, so what is the process for suggesting this be outlined under “…prohibited special logging requirements are, but are not limited to…”
That procedure would be to write Groundspeak, the people who actually make the decision.
And yes, you can have a seed cache.
Good deal. My seed cache won’t have a requirement, it will be an option. Then again, I’m thinking NEMESIS miulti, instead of Seed of NEMESIS. But I’m undecided. Keeping the seed cache stocked might be an impossible task.

Ok….I vote for that one over mine!! I don’t do graphics and just found the t-shirt making thingy online. After looking t your profile jacey7487, now I know your secret!! 😉 Hey… use my encrypted code on the back….that would be cool! LOL Hmmmm…maybe I should hire out next year!!
Can I steal your encryption idea too? 😀
I got one the holders in the mail yesterday, and used it quite a bit today.
The holder was comfortable to use, but would have been better if the chest plate was form fitting, had some vent holes and a little padding.
The unit didn’t get in the way as much as I thought it would, and actually came in handy a few times.
My Magellan Meridian did not fit in the holder, but I was able to attach my car mount to it, so it worked fine.
I can’t say that I’d use it all the time, but it would come in handy on long hikes, and heavy caching days, though I’d still rather have one that attached to my forearm.

Think injected resin or plastic rather than aluminum.
Got it in the mail yesterday, and although it looked like aluminum in the pic, it’s not.
I’ve heard it both ways in the forums, but can’t find anything in writing. I’m hoping a reviewer or two frequents these threads and can answer this. 😉 😀
Keep in mind that right now, animals are finishing their migrations, and many are coming out of hibernation as well. These same animals have it in their blood to check out, and remove anything they find to be suspicious from their territories.
Even if something is cammo’d to you, it’s most likely not to the rest of the forest critters. I swear they can smell cammo tape for a mile. 😯 😀
I love the idea of the encrypte phrase too. GREAT IDEA I wish I had thought of. Nice job!!!
