Can anyone tell us which campsite has been reserved for the group. I mean what number?

We’ll of course be hanging out at the group site, but would prefer to retire to a private site. Unless you all want to hear me snore! 😆

…and now for some odd reason, after going back and reviewing the choices on this thread, I for some reason I want to send Dave some money, and can’t get frogs out of my head… 😯 😕

    😉

    Nice touch Dave!!!

The WGA is an internet community, not a multi-national conglomerate that needs to hire out professional help to design a logo.

I personally think that the WGA is full of talent, and that a logo should come from one of us, because it’s going to represent all of us. If it looks a little odd or funny, that’s fine, because so do most of us. 😀

I personally think we already have the perfect logo to represent us. Cheesehead Dave’s (motionless) logo is simple and to the point, and in my opinion is better than the one we have now.

Logo’s like the Nike Swoosh, and Chevy Bow-Tie are only recognizable by their simplicity because those companies have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to burn those images into our minds. Our logo can’t be that simple. I believe it needs to contain our full name, abbreviation and a simple image in order to be recognized. Unless we have a member with deep pockets that wants to invest in a ad campaign that is. 😀

Again, this is just my opinion. I have no clue what it would cost to hire out the logo work, and have even less of a clue if the WGA can afford it, or should afford it. If we do take that route, I’m pretty sure we’d wind up with an awesome logo, but would it really be worth it?

I’d love to know how many other geocaching communities have paid out for their logo design before we jump in and do it.

tyedyeskyguy – what if you did that same shirt but it was done against white/gray shirt and in a darker color? not so sure about a green shirt… maybe make the printing in green?

i am no artist, otherwise I would submit an idea of my own.

i like the design with the tent incorporated somehow.

I did the shirt in that color, well, cause it was the only color blank T I could find. 🙂

The shirt and graphix can be decided at any time. We could do multiple colors of shirts so the people had a choice too. It would not cost any more $$$.

If the log book is full and there’s no room to place a spare and the original, I would just leave the original, and contact the cache owner to let them know the log needs replacing. You can even post a “needs maintenance” log to the cache page if you feel it’s necessary.

I enjoy reading my log-books after replacing them, and I keep them all.

“We allow the advertising on the pages”

I dont get it. What is that supposed to mean?

It means that Groundspeak allows companies advertising space on cache pages for a price. We however are not allowed any advertising. Charge or no charge. Not even for charity.

But, not completely. The option is there to present your case to Groundspeak directly. They will review it and decide.

Posts like these are why once and for all, a decision needs to be made and put into play by our BOD. Is there any question now, why we need to resolve this.

It’s almost like having an opinion is no longer an option.

    w-w-w-wait! Yoda thinks it’s ok? That changes everything!!! 😆 😆 😆

Or, are we talking about simply setting a precedent where WGA events do not condone multi-logging?

I think the whole point is that there needs to be a standard, one way or the other. My guess is that this referendum was brought to attention to make that decision, and the board, in their infinite geo-wisdom, was nice enough to include us in the decision making process.

    @gotta run wrote:

This whole issue is so incredibly pointless…Until someone finds a way to make a living off how many finds they log, who gives a crap?

So no, I would say this is not pointless. No matter what side you take, or whether you are the perpetual fence-sitter like me, you must agree that the BOD has to finally set the standard. Maybe then, this argument will finally subside.

Yeah –your HotWheels cache was archived. I actually spoke with one of the big wigs at Groundspeak about the exact procedure that I needed to follow for your cache. He directly told me to archive your cache, cite the commerical guideline and have you send an email to appeals. I was just following orders.

I know — archiving seems so permanent. But I wasn’t doing it as a crabby, nasty thing. Just doing what I was told to do.

When a business or something commercial like that is mentioned briefly in a cache page, I usually disable and ask for changes to be made. Your particular cache has a few extra bells and whistles to it — and frankly I really liked it and didn’t want you to make any changes — hence my direction to groundspeak for a (cross your fingers) exception.

    Bec,

please don’t think that I hold this against you in any way. You are doing EXACTLY what you should be doing, and that is, following Groundspeaks guidelines. I received an e-mail from them this morning which I will post shortly.

Thank you for doing this thankless job. Oh wait, I just thanked you. 😉 😆

in reply to: Why I voted "NO" to logging temps #1887133

I have noticed a trend here that I wonder if anyone else has.

There are many supporters of logging multiple caches at an event. And, as I’ve said, I have no problem with it, in fact I encourage it. So…

“Why Jay, have you voted against logging multiple attended logs at events?” some of you might ask.

Simply because it’s possible to log all of your finds at an event individually, without logging multiple attended.

    “How Jay?” you might say.

And I’d reply, “By using the ‘write note’ selection instead.”

This way, we can all show just how much we appreciate each individual cache that we found at the event by writing something about each one in an individual log, and at the same time not have out-of-staters looking down their noses at us. I for one would rather that the cachers from the other 49 states and the rest of the world don’t look at us all as a group, and think “hey, those are the cheaters in WI, why would we ever want to cache with them.” Or “Why would we ever want to hold our Mega-event with those number bloaters.”

Sure, absolutely, I’d like very much to have those finds reflected in my find count since I put forth the effort. But the simple fact, as Team Deejay pointed out, is that this is NOT how Groundspeak wants it. And, since these listings are posted on Groundspeak, we should abide by their rules – or- we should appeal to Groundspeak to have those rules changed.

Still, I support anyone who still wants to log these multiple attended, because it is acceptable here. But why only here? What makes us soooooo special?

Now that’s a sink hole!!! That is a spectacular pic.
