As soon as you log 5 puzzles in the Appleton area!

Guess I know a spot I’ll be camping this summer. Then again, I could stay at the Paper Valley and come this winter. That place was nice last time I was there 7-8 years ago. Is it still?

Here is a link to our photo album with some pic’s of the damage.

The tornado hit our complex last night at around 4:40. TDSKid and I were outside when it touched down. We saw it briefly before we ran for cover. Debbie was lucky enough to be away at work. Everyone here is OK, but the property is well…

Our office and pool house are destroyed, and we have many trees uprooted. One of our buildings has a 15’x20′ hole in the rooof and side. We have yet to find the roof of our office building.

I’ll post pictures to our WGA Photo album in a bit.

I can’t recomend any on the way, as we’ve flown both times. But there are TONS of good caches in the area around the parks. In fact there are many virtuals inside the parks.

Have fun at Disney, and make sure you bring pleanty of $$$! We easily spent twice what we thought we would. Ever paid $3 for a can of soda? How about $4 for a bottle of water? The water that comes out of the water bubblers down there is yellow green. Ewww.

All that new technology, and still no sun or moon on the compass screen. Bummer!

I still would like one though.

You need to run a PQ on all of your caches. In other words, start a new PQ, and check the box marked “I Own” and submit the query. When it’s returned, there will be a link at the top of the page marked “preview the search”. Click it, and at the top of that page, click “gallery”.

Pat, whatever you decide to do is up to you. Please don’t let anyone discourage you from hiding a cache, no matter where you decide to place it (within GC.com guidelines).

I’d hate to think we as a group pushed you away from your first hide, and I’m certain that’s not anyones intent. But reading through the posts from begining to end, it could seem that we are. Geocachers are a GREAT group of people. Some of us, including myself just get bored of parking lot caches, but we still do them, well most of us anywho.

Place your cache where you like, just get permission in advance. Enjoy the sport. I can’t wait to hunt your first hide, and any others to come.

If you can’t find caches, then go plant some like I did.

Be Like Rogheff: If There’s a Will There’s a Wave is my island cache in Kenosha, but it’s not on a river, it’s on Lake Michigan. More specifically, on a breakwater.

Thanks for all of the answers! A final (?) question – can you upload Garmin .gdb files?

You can just click the “Send To GPS” button on the cache page. This will send the coords. and cache name to the GPS. You can then choose the cache as a destination right from the menu on the GPS.

Another nice feature of the Garmins is that all caches downloaded into the GPS have a treasure chest as an icon that appears on the map screen. So, even if you’re not out caching, you can still see caches in the area as you are driving by them. You can then choose to stop and hunt them if you like, and the GPS is plenty accurate to hunt with if you don’t have the handheld with. Although I wouldn’t make a habit of it. (no compass screen)

in reply to: funniest sayings/events during gift opening… #1882647

Yesterday morning, while opening gifts with the fam, TDSKid had a great one.

A little background first. My wife (TDSGal) had requested that no one buy her her favorite perfume this year because she didn’t care for it anymore. That perfume is White Diamonds.

So, TDSGal gets handed a gift from me and opeens it. Its a solitaire Diamond necklace. So, TDSKid says, “oooh Daddy, Mommy said you weren’t supposed to buy her any diamonds this year!”.

OK, somehow it seemed funnier being there than seeing it written.
