Our best is my sons coin Alec’s Tribute to Space Engineers Geocoin which has completed it’s journey and is now safely back home after it’s 6,750 mile journey.

On the other hand, we have the Brzeg, Poland” Unite for Diabetes Travel Bug that we released, and has now traveled 15,894 miles, but has not yet reached it’s destination. It’s actually back here in the states less than 250 miles from Kenosha (where we released it). 🙄

Why not just make an event out of it?

Less than 3001 and more than 0. 😯

    Way to go Russ!!!

Maybe now is the time for Boyd and Boydina to meet? Better keep burrgirl away from Boydina, or we could be looking at a bigtime cat-fight! 😆

First off I would recommend buying online because it will be much cheaper. I usually buy all my computer parts from newegg.com.
I would first install a USB 2.0 PCI card in your computer, USB 1.0 is way to slow for large files. I have used a few of these in peoples computers, and have never had an issue.

As for an external hard drive, you can buy a pre-made one or buy your own enclosure and hard disk. The main advantage of building your own is getting more than a year warranty and maybe saving a few dollars. Either way you go I usually buy seagate hard drives, they are the only manufacture with a 5 year warranty on hard drives.

Thanks! I found some great info on newegg that explained all the numbers. I ordered a USB 2.0 card from them for under $10!!! I’m still researching which drive to buy, but I’m leaning toward a Western Digital 320GB, 8MBcache, 7200RPM model.

So Fall is here and my attention has turned to all things spooky…..

I’m working on a cache that I want to list as a letterbox but seem to be lacking in motivation.

    It begins:

“Silent they floated. Cutting through the darkness, seeing with unseeing eyes. These were the dark times. Long before the white man made his way to what the Potawatomi called Coo-No-Mo-Wauk.

For ages beyond memory fires were lit to hold back the night. At these fires tales were told of phantoms able to fly unfettered through the darkness. Whispered were rumors of creatures steeling away the unwary in the black of night. Before time itself existed, these beings ruled the darkness…..”

So are there good “Haunted” caches out there?

I know of a good haunted event! Troop 507’s GeoScare Event

I had a cache that when I punch in the coords, I must have had fat fingers as I entered a wrong digit. I gave emailed the reviewer the the right coords and got it changed no problems and the move was a .25 miles away 😕 😯 😳 🙄

A reviewer can override the system, we can’t. 🙂

Another WOW! What are the chances that 2 teams would hit #5000 in the same weekend?!?!? There should be an event for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WOW! #5000 Awesome achievement!!! Congratulations!

I recently had to move a cache (NEMESIS #8 Uhm Yeah! to NEMESIS #8 Uhmm Yeah! The Sequel) 75 feet and the system would not allow it. I ended up having to re-do the entire cache.

This would be a great thread for the “Ask a Reviewer” section that’s been asked for. Hint Hint! 😉 [/url]

Couldn’t you ask the person you submitted the form to? Seems like a long time…I’d be impatient too. 🙂

The e-mail they supply goes to someone who just forwards it to the Land Manager – I don’t know who that person is. I suppose I could just release it, since by the time people solve it (yeah, it’s a Mystery Cache), I’ll have the approval. Besides, there was a cache there before this one (oops, I said too much!).

I think I just heard 3 Hawks run out of the house looking for it. 😆

Jason, is that the puzzle cache I got the sneak peek at the grafix? I’ve been patiently awaiting that one as well.

If it’s something your son is going to eventually drive as well, 4WD might not be the only thing to consider.

Consider what trouble a child can get into thinking they are invincible in a 4×4. The Escape and Tribute are going to be the most maneuverable of the bunch, and will no doubt have ABS and traction control, which for a beginner driver might be a necessity on the road types you are speaking of. Not to mention, both will be better on gas, and the environment.

Having had access to a Ford F150 4×4 as a 16 year old, I can say that I would NEVER let my son have one at that same age!!! Oh, I could tell you stories…

I am looking for another 4WD vehicle – used, under $10K. I am interested in people’s opinions – good and bad – about pick-ups and midsize SUVs. Any comments appreciated, related to the subject. 🙂

The following vehicles in my budget are currently in my area:

    • late 90’s Ford F150
    • late 90’s/early 00’s Ford Explorer
    • early 00’s Ford Escape
    • early 00’s Mazda Tribute
    • late 90’s GMC Jimmy

Opinions on these, and any others that fit the category, are welcome. If you prefer to email instead of post, my address is bnbgeo at gmail dot com.

    Thanks.

    Ruth

I can better offer an opinion if you post what the vehicle will be used for. If you are planning on doing some trail riding, some vehicle just won’t cut it.
