let me know on any days you have available… i’m willing to drive, and still have plenty of caches to find in the area.
most of my days are pretty open during the week, so whatever works best for you.
i grew up a few miles from that park, and worked there while in college, so i can attest to how tame the deer can be. my parents still live close by and can tell when the “park deer” are in the yard because they don’t care if the dogs are barking or we are moving around in the house… while the other deer were almost always skittish.
before i adopted this cache this summer, i found it last year while visiting home, and it is still my longest log to date.
on a side note… i worked in the park before i knew what geocaching was, and was within a few feet of both of the park caches (one since archived) and had no clue either were there. definitely great hides.
depending on who your provider is, i got a deal with mine (sprint) only had to pay $50 for the phone… and if you are concerned about having it in the woods, you can get a rubber skin for it that protects from scratches. it is actually smaller than my m130, and fits comfortably in my jeans pocket.
i’ve used a cheap one and a new one, and definitely recommend both…
i originally used a Palm m130, which has a color screen, and to me seems nice and big. got it on ebay for $25 dollars including shipping, docking port, and even the mini keyboard. very durable (i tend to drop things), and also included an sd card.
when i moved back to WI this summer, my cell contract was up, so i got a new phone. with geocaching in mind, i got a Palm Centro. connects with usb to the computer, cachemate works on it, plus i have internet access with a great google maps feature, and every once in a while, i log my cache right from the site.
hope that helps
still looking if anyone is interested…
i finally get the wonderful 😯 experience of caching in the snow. when i first started caching a year and a half ago, it was in the comfort of the Arizona desert… we’ll see how the snow treats me.
