i’ve run into the same issue in the same cemeteries in that area. one of them was “occupied” for a year. i have basically given up on placing any WSQs in the area around him aside from the few i managed to sneak in.
i’ll be back up there in 3 weeks if no one else is able to do it. at the very least i can replace the cache container. I wouldn’t mind adopting any in the area for them as well.
i’ve had similar instances in the past few months, but today takes the cake. person logged the cache as a find – but said in the log he didn’t take a measurement, picture, or even look at the sign! if he had done even one, i probably would have let it slide… but that’s unbelievable.
i use WhereYouGo on my droid… i’ve used it for a few here in Madison. it works great, no glitches on either run. i’ve also downloaded a new way to search. no more following the compass arrow… i have radar!
EAGLES PEAK by PassingWind (GC1C8JP) outside of Mellen.
ST. PETER’S DOME by PassingWind (GC1BAQA) a 52 pickup cache is nearby for Morgan falls as well.
52-Pickup – WWF #01 & #02 (Copper Falls) by The Lil Otter (GCG5TK)
i’m (28, wife 25) in Madison, but make frequent trips to janesville and surrounding area for caches… which days work best?
does anyone have the new Evo yet? i’ll have one by the end of the week and was kinda wondering if anyone has taken it out for a test drive yet… not just for caching abilities, but overall.
i’d be interested depending on the day it is attempted…
count me in on this as well… i’m just mad my brother has never mentioned anything about this… he works there!
Explorist 200 and 400… too bad i tend to drop things. a lot. Triton 500 is faring much better though. i suppose it has to do with dropping on grass and snow vs. rocks in the desert.
any update on how soon will we have access to the forum?
a few i visited while living in AZ need it… some spots are open range. one of the roads was referred to by the locals as “Dead Cow Road.”

i have heard and read much of the same experiences you speak of. frankly, it has spooked me enough that i haven’t pursued the single EC that would get me my platinum status (it’s the only one i have left on the hide or find side) because it just seems like too much of a hassle just to get that last pin. I have a few great places up north for it, but being more than 100 miles away will just make it even more difficult.
02/03/2010 at 10:50 pm in reply to: How many points for this one? It DOES pass over Wisconsin. #1921450oh the irony… a german cacher posting a SBA on an international cache for not meeting guidelines… and to think they didn’t even try to log it! 😆
The first one that comes to mind is going to find Mallalieu Canoe (GCGX6Y) in Hudson with my future father in law in Nov ’08. Temp was barely above 40, and it was over a mile paddling upstream in the kayaks. he had no real interest in the actual geocache, only really came along to make sure I didn’t get myself into trouble with the cold and whatnot. I wasn’t even sure if i would find it, since it was a LC that hadn’t been found in over a year, but we found it. Plenty of time for conversation too… it was the first real talks we had with no one else around.
The other favorite was going to North Country Trail: Swedish Settlement (GCT82X) with bme22 this summer. This cache is outside my hometown of Mellen, and I grew up hearing about the ruins, but had never actually made it out there. We spent the entire day doing the lonely caches in the area, with this one being the biggest prize. My favorite caches are the ones that bring me to places that give us a look back at history.
