For the folks that have seen the paperless caching features of the Colorado or know more about them…

Is the paperless information you get for caches as full featured as what you get via CacheMate? If someone switched from using a Palm to a Colorado, would they be annoyed because some things they used to have in their Palm would not be available?

For example, are the following features available?

    – Easily view hints (important :))
    – Multiple views/pages of cache information rather than a single “flat” view
    – Ability to view past logs
    – View travel bug information (what bugs are supposed to be in a cache)
    – Ability to mark caches found and record notes

I don’t know about these features because they were hyping the Wherigo thingy. I will see what I can find out for you.

There is a fat raccoon there now just gorging him/her self.

Oh the Garmin Colorado is OK and just OK. We have the 60 CSX and this was not an improvement. The Whereigo feature is lame and IMHO pure stupidity. It turns into a virtual game and you can load up different scenes. We were on a planet and had to put on a space suit and walk fifty feet to find food and such. For us it had nothing to do with Geocaching and is just there for the “kids”. For $599 bucks I would spend my money elsewhere.

I have posted the above in the thread stealers thread but was requested to post it here also.

I do want to add that I wrote the above at the Las Vegas Airport and I was tired.

Some high points of the Colorado is that it is paperless. It will have full descriptions on the screen. I guess for the price of a GPS’r and PDA it might be worth the cost. However, we were very limited on the use of the unit due to Garmin and Groundspeak pushing the Whreigo game.

I was able to find out that they are making cartridges for zoos and other areas to get you to find certain points. That would be neat but the “game” they showed us was still lame. If I did not have the 60 CSX and a PDA and was looking to upgrade I would check out this unit more thoroughly.

Further, without fully checking out this unit I can not give a yea or nea on the subject. It is just my personal limited experience with the unit.

Thanks. I was wondering what the best way was to transport the Gpsr to Vegas.

Vegas, when are you going? We are there next weekend.

I have taken my GPSr on flights many times, I put it in the carry-on. I have used it on all of my flights. It may be best to ask either the pilots or flight attendants if they allow the use on the flight.

A question for the great and honored commish:

College football has the Heisman trophy. Pro football has the Lombardi trophy. Will the WGA FFL trophy from henceforth in future years be known as the Vegas Gamblers Trophy?

Just wondering. (And to think it could have been the Mathman trophy, if talking smack counted in the awarding of points.)

Thanks for the shout out. Yep, I figure that I have about 8 Months of bragging. It was a great season and I can’t wait till next year to play again. Plus an added thanks to Cheezehead for putting the league together.

I plan on smoking more, drinking more, and having more 70’s style “get togethers” …

but seeing as how the only one I may actually come close to doing is drinking more (not like that is hard lately…) I’ll just stick to the old standby’s of weight loss and being nice to the pygmies in new guinea..

On a geocaching note, I’ll try to clear out the home territory, hopefully tackle the one or two Timberline Echo’s caches that have come out since I cleared their list earlier this year. Beyond that…try and find some new places to go cache, maybe pick up a county or two.

I hope everyone here is able to make theirs come true this year

Fog, rain and just damp overnight, it has started to snow now though. They say that we are going to get an inch or two, so nothing major.

I know that some people have their geodogs and TB’s and they also have trackable coins on the collars for discovering.

Kind of makes you think warmer thoughts during this snowy winter. It was a great video.
