About 200-300 hundred “undead” walked the streets last night. Not a zombie guy but it still was pretty amusing to see them shuffle along. several good home videos to enjoy.

09/05/2010 at 9:34 pm in reply to: Paddle to Paddle Neenah’s Shattuck Park-Appleton’s Lutz Park #1935427Bad weather kept Mr. Lacknothing and I off the water. We actually sailed over to Stockbridge Friday night but the wind picked up something fierce as we had to call a PAF (my wife ) to pick us up. 30 mph winds are just too much on the ‘bago for a 26 foot sailboat or canoes.

Preliminary plans with my wife, daughter and her friend. Sounds like it would be funny to watch so we’re going to do our best.

I was searching through the archives and added my info which caused this to bubble/bump back to the top.
You are right Jim- someplace, lately I remember seeing your info.

Walkingadventure:
What a great idea for a name- maybe next time I can add a few more letters. As I sat in the basement, signing up to GC to start an adventure I had no idea what was in store for us. I asked the family for some input but was rejected, leaving it up to me.
A play on my last name (Walker) and my outlook on life (Adventure). After signing my name on over 2200 caches, I regret the long name. Oftern I sign now either WalkAdv or at events (or long caching days) I drop down to WA.
Always like hearing the story behind the names that are less than obvious.

Way to go Sherry! Keeping it fresh and exciting but don’t succumb to the Darkside.

All milestones in life are better when shared (birthdays, laughs, weddings, geocaching milestones). Caching is a fun and important part of my life and it just keeps getting better the more friends I meet and share the experiences with along the way.

HP, when you run the numbers like you did, then the likelihood of another occurance while low, still lends itself to the chance that was we speak there could be ~400 other “bombs” waiting as you said and I rethought my response.
IMHO:
Many accidents that result in severe injury are unique and singularly occurring events in which a series of breakdowns occur in a cascading effect.Typically, no one thing causes an incident. It’s almost as is The Perfect Storm comes together and then the catastrophic happens:
A rural cache is created and an ammo can was chosen over a pill bottle as the container 😀
Horrible skeeters due to the wet summer and location 😈
Swag= OFF to combat bloodsuckers (a reprieve!) 😉
Heat= pressurized airtight/watertight can 😯
Malfunctioning OFF can leaked/expelled propellant 😡
WalkingAdventure finds a cache 😛 8) 😀

Thanks Deejay for taking this topic to a bigger audience/group for discussion. Not sure how this should’ve been advanced otherwise.

Glad to see you on board and we saw your posting for your new cache! Way to go.

My suggestion, which relates to my Safety training on throwing disconnects :
- Hinged end of ammo box should be nearest the body and the clasping end away from the body.
If it explodes open, the blast will be directed away from the person opening the can.- Never put your face over the lid of a ammo can and keep everyone to the hinged side of the can.
It may blow open but your face should be protected. I never realized we undertook such a dangerous sport 8)
I’m not a math guy (that’s why I don’t due Sudoku’s, Calculus, etc on puzzles) but I would say the chances of this happening again are very very low.

I can vouch for the watertight/airtight nature of ammo cans!
