I’ll be to every event as it is a responsibility of the BOD to be there as our by-laws state but the best laid plans sometimes get upset. Family situations can crop up, work responsibilities rear their heads.
Last year even though my daughter had a soccer game in Milwaukee, I made the drive to Gov Thompson for the picnic and then took off a little early to go home and load up for the afternoon game at Good Hope Rd.
Sometimes it isn’t easy to serve 2 “masters” but a Director should so their very best.

The candidates are posting like crazy now. I can hardly keep up. Finally figured out the #1 qualification for being the president is…………umm, still working on that.
Luckily, those decision fall on the Directors to elect officers. For me, I took it to mean that I was willing to be the main contact for the WGA and spend lots of time working on WGA stuff when I should ‘ve been out caching and do what I could to wrangle all the cats we juggle and get them into one bag.
Now, that is just a figure of speech. No cats have been juggled, jostled or cajoled during any official WGA business.

No craphas here. We are supposed to get an inch later. The children are off for a teacher in-service day. I pretty much had my votes decided after conversing with a few of the candidates over chili. I asked the three I was vacillating about a casual question (they all got the same question) and one convinced me, one made a valid point, and the other failed.
Eekkkk…we didn’t talk. Guess you already had formed an opinion of me. 🙂

I was hesitant to accept any role as an officer last year but after thinking it out, I am glad I accepted the role of President. I did enjoy term and I hope I did an above average job in the position.
I think the WGA forefathers were wise to suggest the 1st year of an incoming BOD be that of learning the ropes of how the Board and committees operate but each person is unique as is the history and mix of the current Board members.
