Thanks to all that have taken the time to read all of the questions, answers and profiles of the candidates. There are many great people to choose from and I hope choosing 4 voted is difficult for you since we all have great qualities.

Good news cheyole, the Commander has been working on the removal of fees for Dane County and if it is not completely removed, it will be very soon. He has taken this one on as his personal project and has been posting the updates here on the site. Here’s the link: http://wi-geocaching.com/forums/topic/dane-county-park-fee/
Not only does every BOD need to be involved with the projects to make them successful, we need the members to be willing to help out and like you did here, bring this to our attention. From where I live the nearest rest stop is 40 or miles away.
Which do you think has a better chance of success? 9 Directors working towards a happy result or 346 members working together. I know I am limited on any contacts within the DOT, any government contacts I have are in the DNR but maybe we can use those to put us in touch with the right people.
I am always up for working on a project but the thought of trying to change a government entity’s policy by myself is kinda overwhelming. How does one start the process?

My time-fillers outside of work, WGA matters and geocaching (they are different) include working towards World Peace, deciding which type of pie I prefer (hands down it always comes back Pecan Pie) and evaluating the merits of puppies versus kittens.
My youngest child just graduated and is now 19. She really only need me and my wife for the bank account. I spent 10 yrs as a church youth group leader and about 15 years off and on as a soccer coach for my kids. Now they are grown up and leading their own lives.Currently, my wife Keri and I are finding ourselves drawn back into Off-Roading, Wheelin’ or Jeepin’. No matter what it is called, it is all the same and we have just joined a couple of Off Road clubs. If spent a fair amount of time in the last year modifying my Jeep for fun and functionality.
We are in a transition time in our lives and looking for what is next. We now get to live for ourselves and Isabelle the Adventure Pup instead of the kids. And hope a lot of traveling happens and that then also leads back into caching.Following the signals from space.
Follow up answer:
The WGA isn’t the 9 Directors, it is the members. The BOD just helps to set things up and is to be a sounding board for the members and always putting their best wishes first.
For those of you reading this, what have been your experiences with the BOD (either current or past). Did we/they meet your needs, listen to you, encourage you, offer support? I know I’ve talked and listened to members from Racine to Door County to Ashland to SE WI.

My life for the WGA.
It should be family, work, WGA but sometimes they get out of order and #3 becomes#1. That doesn’t go well sometimes.
🙁

01/21/2015 at 6:56 pm in reply to: Do you have the WGA logo and link on all of your cache hides? #2033909What kinda of a Director am I. I know when I held my event last month and published the new caches, I almost forgot to add the banner/logo with the link to the website.
Looking over my 100 caches I did find a few that do not have the link. Yikes…bad WalkingAdventure.
Most do look like this:

I think I may have posted this before but wanted to say it again because like your first kiss or first car, it sticks out as a special memory.
2009 WGA Campout High Cliff State Park (hey, isn’t the camp out there again this year?)
I found the link to the WGA event off the Frog’s map of caches. Knew nothing of the group or what to expect. There I saw a ton of people and met one of my puzzle master idols…seldom|seen who I spoke of in hushed tones of deep respect. We did the night caches with the Lacknothings and then my family returned came back the next day to do more caches in the 30 MPH wind.

A few ideas:
Smaller, regional WGA sponsored events.
Hook up with locals and offer to help sponsor or just co-host events throughout the state. Think of it as similar to Grass Roots campaigning. Surprisingly, there are many that do not know the WGA exists. I know when I joined in 2009, I had been caching for 5 years before I stumbled across the group.Host How To events
How to host an event…a CITO, do puzzles, etc.
More CITOS!
Host bigger, fun events.
Have you participated in any of the new game within the game events? How about a WGA sponsored Poker Run, Waterfall Tour, Road Rally, etc. Let’s keep the fun in the Association and lead the way and continue to innovate. Give people a reason to travel and meet new friends- be a part of a bigger group.
Keep the BOD diverse and seek out those cachers in different areas of the state to volunteer and serve.
With 9 Directors, we should have representation from more than just the population centers. We do well with this now. Lakewood (NE), Wild Rose (Kinda Central WI), Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Neenah (NE WI), Sheboygan and Madison areas. This year there are candidates from Bruce (NW), Sheboygan(Eastern), Sturgeon Bay (NE), Sparta (Western) , Milwaukee, Fox Valley (NE) and Eau Claire. With the new website, there are some great new features we can begin to explore.
More blog-type posts from members across the state…how about a Post Your WGA gear pictures from vacations to trips to famous locations. Those would be fun to see on the website- imagine T&B with their WGA gear at the Eiffel Tower, Brain Bard’s Gang in Times Square…Ostermi in Washington D.C.Encourage the use of the Suggestion Box on the website
There are so many members with great ideas- I know I don’t have all the answers but you all do.Encourage more members to become involved in everything we do. Great way to meet new people and look for potential BOD members. I think we should always be trying to find people to replace us. That keeps the Association strong.
The WGA does so much good already, keep doing it but do not be afraid of trying new things. Make sure we all (each member) adds the WGA Cache Page Banners to all of their cache pages. It will direct anyone that clicks on it to our website.

Jim and Brian if your offer still stands we would be glad to have you run the event. Look for PMs and more info to come your way.

What have I organized:
Hmmm…
10 years before serving on the BOD, I spent my time as a church youth group leader, leading various mission trips to NYC, San Francisco, Nashville, Galveston Island and a few other spots in and out of state for retreats and other fun things including a home building trip to Jaurez, MX. I’ve donated my time as a soccer coach for my son’s and my daughter’s teams spanning over 12 years.
I was offered the Social Media Coordinator position for the WGA and took over the administration of the WGA FB page and still enjoy doing this. Just about every post come from my keyboard, so now you know who to blame. I have hosted/co-hosted 2 of the Lonely Cache Game events when we had them in Horicon Marsh.
Having a group of Directors that will work together makes it all worthwhile. It is fun to work together with other people that have ideas that are quite often better than mine.
I’ve had a hand in every WGA event for the past 2 years and as President I have been the contact for many outside groups that look for geocaching related assistance. I get to look for other members to get them to help out these groups. Pretty cool.
My pet project has been the WGA State Park Series. I’ve read every log that come through and keep in contact will the WDNR, park staff and the Trail Bosses.
