Looks like just 20 parks left. Thanks to geolivestrong, jkkids, makinWI, and MooseGoober for stepping up to volunteer.

Nice job Labrat for the new SP cache. You work fast.

Specifically, this has been addressed. I was waiting it out until someone was interested and realized this could be an exception to the “long walk” to the cache requirement. I could see this being a micro or nano near the SP sign. If no one else wants to grab this, I can check into it. I know nothing about the park outside of the archeological diggings going on right now. We would definitely work with the DNR to place this within their wishes.

Not a part of the State Park system:
Capital Springs State Park -state rec area no longer included in list
Lost Dauphin State Park – removed from list managed by Town of Lawrence

Sometimes the WDNR website can be a little confusing on designating State Parks/Rec areas.

Kettle Moraine State Forest – Pike Lake Unit is spoken for but not included in this list since it is a State Forest

If we decide to keep the same rules as last year:

Rules that were added by race organizer

                    1. All travel bugs must be present at the 2012 WGA Picnic event. Travel Bug tags will be available for sale at the event if needed.
                    2. The first stop for your traveler should be the picnic event. You can eiter take it with you to place in a cache of your choice, or leave it with the event staff to be dropped in one of several undisclosed caches around the state.
                    3. Only the FIRST move by a single cacher will be counted for miles. (No “dipping” for miles.)
                    4. Travel bugs must be released into the wild. (No “discover only” travelers)
                    5. The main reason for this race is to have fun. Please don’t spoil it by trying to find a way to “beat the system”.
                    6. Bragging in the WGA website forums is allowed and encouraged.

We waited to show up until 1:25 or so and walked straight up to the table with no one in front of us. Only took us 6 yrs to learn that trick.

I did do a few of the2012 WBCB caches on Thursday and I can attest to how nature covered over the trampled trail in just one year.

There was no path and the grass was 5-6 ft high most of the way.

I liked the groupings of the caches. Clusters to go and spend an hour searching out the hides and the hides were good quality.

I appreciate that at least 2 of the hiders spent the day checking on their hides to keep the quality up after hundreds of people were poking and prodding them.
