I was *this* close to taking a drive to Faribault to see a bird this morning, but decided to be an adult and get a couple things done that needed to be done. Glad I made that choice….no one’s seen it today. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t up at 5:30 to join others for the bird walk, though. This weekend is full of birding stuff, though I’ll take a break Saturday morning to watch my grand-daughter’s first soccer game. First….I was a soccer mom. Now….I am a soccer grandma!
Next thing you know you’ll be going to the birds. (haha)
The WGA Store shows up in our banner.

You must be logged in to view attached files. It’s been a couple of couple of weeks. It’s looking like maybe the store won’t be open before the Campout? Any words?
My pet peeve of the day…. Help me understand if maybe I’m missing some complication or something. Someone posts something they did on facebook related to geocaching yesterday. Invariably someone asks for a gc link. If that’s wanted, can’t they go to our profile and see what we did yesterday to find it themselves? The geocaching website is all wonky today, so I sure don’t want to go there! I’m just trying to understand why others might need that code provided by us. We did a series. They all have the same name. It’s all we did. If you can get the gc site to work, it’s easy to see what we did yesterday. Am I correct??? I suppose we could be nice and just provide it when making the post, but neither my brain nor Trekkin’s works that way if we decide to post it somewhere online. I’m done.
You’re right, a couple of mouse clicks and they could’ve had the information themselves. Time now for that next cup of coffee, right? Steve
FTF for the 24th. What do you know about that.
Are you guys going to Mackinac again this year?
Yes we’ll be there. We’ll be at the pre-event in Mackinaw City too. We got six more meeting us there too. Should be a fun time.

Haha. Don’t sell yourself short, Birdin. The only reason Trekkin gets to so many caches first is because every time you get close you actually turn away from the cache (ooh look, there’s a bird!). Steve
We always log the same day whenever possible. As a matter of fact, we have a separate (cheap) little laptop that we take with us exclusively when traveling. It has no secure info on it all, just geocaching and gmail just so we can log caches the same day. The only time we ever log from the phone is if we’re dropping a TB in a cache in a high caching area where it could potentially get retrieved before we log it. So many times people will take a log a TB as soon as they get it and then drop it later in they. They hit the “Grab it from somewhere else” function instead of waiting a couple of days in case someone dropped it just ahead of them and logs it that night or the next day. We actually dropped a TB and tried to log it in the hotel about three hours later and someone had already grabbed it and dropped it again. It lost a bunch of mileage it would have gotten.
Not replying as a candidate but…..One thing might be to recognize anyone attending the Spring Campout and the Fall Picnic who has been a member of the WGA since it started.
Or at both of those events, you could have the entire audience stand, and then ask everyone who has been a member of the WGA at least five years to remain standing. Then ask everyone who has been a member of the WGA for ten years to remain standing. Then, eleven years, then twelve, and so on.
You can also put out individual traditional “legacy” caches for the longest standing active WGA members.
(i.e., WGA Turns 15: Trekkin’ and Birdin’)
Who got the International EarthCache Day 2016 souvenir today? What earthcache did you do to get it? I was with TC54915 and Quarterpint06 and we found Lower Narrows EarthCache https://coord.info /GC17JE4
We got one up in Houghton, Michigan while camping nearby. We found A’a Lava Glacial Erratic, GC3T726.
No, it’s not the fault of the race. But nearly every TB or Geocoin we’ve released has gone missing and we’re just tired of throwing the money away. And you’re right about the inconsiderate cachers out there, seems like there’s a pretty good mix of experienced cachers and newbies in that category. Pretty sad evolution for such a fun hobby. Enough of the soapbox though.
On a good note though, you can still claim bragging rights for worst bug since we pulled ours from the race when we got the bits and pieces back.
Our racer was stolen by one of the first three cachers to handle it, now that’s lame. Lacknothing was kind enough to mail the remains back to us, which consisted solely of our racer’s info card and a mysterious little green card (saying that it had been “discovered by …”). That’s pretty much soured us on entering another one in the future. Also sure we’ll never drop someone’s TB in the West Bend area. Oh well….
Does anyone know if the WGA Store is going to be open before the Spring Campout? We haven’t seen anything on it this year. Seems a little odd.
Congrats on such a big milestone, Dave.
Anyone know when we might see the Spring Campout event posted? We’ve been trying to get some northern cachers spooled up to go but there’s nothing out there to show them.
