Pardon the expresson, but I’m afraid with any NiCAD batteries, that’s the “nature of THE BEAST” .
If you have NiCAD batteries in RC Cars, Drills, or FRS RAdios, or whatever, the rule of thumb is to run them DEAD before charging. If not, then a “memory” develops and pretty soon your batteries last only 10 minutes.
Any EE’s out there care to chime in? You probably know a bit more than I do
Here’s a little reading material.

Anybody else notice some strange translation while looking at the Geocoin designs?
I’ve never studied Latin, so I didn’t know for instance that Red Robin translates into “migrating turd”
Mr. WISearcherus Cachesaurus (beep beep!)
Remember the part in the movie “The Minority Report” When Tom Cruise is walking through the mall? (the ad screens scan his eye and say Hi John, how about a pair of khakis” or whatever it was… Maybe that’s not so futuristic after all….

Did anybody have one of the old compuserv (or was it prodigy?) emails? 984253.98458@compuserv
How did people ever use(or remember email that way??
I didn’t have one; I was a bit young, but not too young to remember them.
Speaking of AOL, remember when their first disks were out and they were giving away a whole 5 free hours?? Wow! LOL
My first experience with anything internet related was in High School in the late 80’s. Our library had the old modem where you put the receiver on it and then dialed in to the university or regional library to check out books for interlibrary loan. I believe it was a blazing 9600 baud.
Then in 1995, I wanted to do some research on Mardi Gras, and my employer at the time had a connection to this thing I had been hearing about: The Information Superhighway!
Several all night chats in chat rooms commenced. Conversation was had by all. Many Free hours at AOL were blown. The End.
Mr. WISearcher.
I’ve only removed a few things from caches without replacing it with something:
1. A real business card, not a T&tb type card. I don’t think any advertising like business cards should be in caches, except for spif items squishy balls, pens, or stuff you get at trade shows.
2. Anything remotely to do with my soul being saved. (Separation of Church and Geocaching, right?
3. Anything food, candy, incense, soap or otherwise stinky things.
I’m in the category where I like to find the calling card items or cards, so long ast they don’t break rules 1, 2,or 3.
I’m also in agreement that I’d rather find signature cards than left over Space Jam or Flubbler McToys that have been little Johnny’s mouth or God knows where else.
My $0.04.

Mandrew:
Tony’s guide to guerilla marketing
1.Try the “personals” classified section in the paper version of “The Onion”. It’s really not used for personals in the traditional sense, it’s more used for ‘Shout Outs” or odd things to say. It’s free.
2.Haven’t read “The Daily Cardinal” that recently, but maybe there is some cheap or free similar way to get the word out about your club. You also could approach a reporter at the paper to do a story on geocaching, and at the end they could put you /your club as a contact point for more info.
3.Does the UW have some sort of Electronic Bulletin Board? You could post on that.
4.Also, don’t forget http://madison.craigslist.org/
5.You might want to contact WYOU the Madison Community TV Station. Maybe you can get on one of the local shows, or have your own geocaching show? That would be cool.
6. WORT-FM The radio station? Maybe get a plug on that.
Hope that gives you some help! If I think of any other free press I will post again.

Now you can say you’ve got nuts in your pocket and be talking about Cachew!
It is a .wmv file. I will tinker and see if I can convert or spit out a quicktime file., If you have the means, by all means go ahead and convert it, I’ll post it.
Thanks.
No post of the video on Channel 3’s site yet…
Check out this Link to view the video.
http://www.veroeven.com/content/view/35/1/It is only 6MB (for a decent version), and if I start to approach using up my 75 GB of bandwidth per month, i’ll pull it.
Enjoy!
