Obviously the data would have to go on a separate page…
I mentioned add’l states not for the geostats table but more for the other thread that tracks how many states cachers have cached in.

Searches in Excel by Control+F work as well. You don’t need a Data Base program for this. If you select Replace All and Fill replace (Wisconsin) with (WI) it will change each Wisconsin it finds and give you a count of them.
Who would have thought I’d learn a new trick from an Old dog? LOL J/K beast!
Wow, wow, wow! I didn’t realize when Ken posted about this meeting that it was going to be such a big deal!
Great Job Ken, Wzbt03, WGA and everyone else involved.
Hopefully this will keep the doors open. I already know that WGA has set an example and precedent nationwide. MnGCA and MN geocachers are envious of the relationship WI cachers have with the State. Hopefully the MnGCA will be able to work eventually as positively with the State of MN. It’s not for lack of trying, that’s for sure!
I’m sure with all of the good press and meetings like this will help out MN and other states that have ‘banned’ geocaching.

Unfortunately, I can’t figure out a good way for you to get that number other than going into your logs and counting by have. No problem if you only have a couple dozen, but if you’re in the hundreds with several other states mixed in as well as post-a-notes and not-founds, it may be more of a challenge…

I counted mine by hand but double checked with a quick (but rather dirty) way.
I went to MY CACHE PAGE on gc.com, and clicked on “Show All Logs”. Then I copy-pasted all of my log links into Excel.
Then I proceeded to delete each row that had a “no find”, an “archive note” or “regular note.” Basically I deleted all but regular “happy face” finds. I deleted the entire row, not just the contents.
(This was the most tedious, even for 225 finds. But, in the long run, someone with 2200+ finds (ahem…Otter) would find that it’s worth it rather than hand counting.)
Then I deleted all COLUMNS except the one with the cache name. This field contains which state the cache was found in.
(The row number that the last cache is in should match your number of finds. IF NOT, there must be a note or no find row still present taking up space.)
Finally, I imported the file into Filemaker Pro, a simple database program where I did a Ctrl F and searched for “Wisconsin” and “Minnesota” (our only two states) and verified that my counting was correct. I was off by one when counting so I fixed it in my totals on the geostats page.
Tedious, but accurate. If you need help doing this, or don’t have a database like Filemaker or Access that can import excels files, let me know. If you prep the excel file, I will run the searches for you. If you have multiple states, and want those totals, let me know which states to look for. I’ll email you back the results so you can update your WIS finds onto the geostats page.
Please zip your file and email to b_and_us @ yahoo.com
Tony
Even though They aren’t counted in cache totals, Would you cachers out there want a column for Benchmarks and number of TB dog tags (found and owned) as shown on our GC.com User stats? I would, if it’s not too much trouble, Dave.

Thanks Dave. Very cool.
Now that I see that we find .6 caches a day, I need 1.6 more children to meet the demand, and to be the average demographic nuclear family.
Mr. WISEarcher
Wow, Great work! We’ll see you at the event cache congratulate you in person! Maybe you’ll be at 200 then!
Same here, maybe it’s just us! Can’t get it to save our totals.
of course I do not have all of the answers, but I believe that there has been specific permission granted for one/some by those in charge of the specific areas (land managers)…I am sure though that Grousetales would be much more articulate in describing the ins and outs of approving the caches (which I am sure is laborious task).

Beast, Not that I know of. Would you do the honors if you haven’t already?
ROTF LMAO
I DO KNOW! We’re driving up to the Twin Cities tonight and Ms. WISearcher asked if we could/should do any caching on the way… I said, “Let’s just get up there!”
Will do some while there of course!!
Making good time is important to us men!
We can’t apologize for being men. That should be my new email tagline….

Will you fly in or drive in?
Everyone: We have a Travel Bug Spa in Deforest WI (near Madison, WI) right off of the interstate I90/94. Anyone feel free to use it as a drop off/pick up spot for your holiday travels!
