GSAK has a custom URL feature where you can add your own URL’s on the menu that pops up when you right click on a cache. I added two URL’s that allow you to go to the google map or satellite image centered at the cache location. (It already does this for mapquest and terraserver, but I like google maps and images – they’re fast, plus has nice features like pan via mouse drag). Do this by going to Tools/Options, HTML tab, and adding the following to the custom URL’s:
Google Satellite=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%lat,%lon&spn=0.005257,0.007102&t=k&hl=en
Google Maps=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%lat,%lon&spn=0.015411,0.027210&hl=enTo bring up the google map or image, right click on a cache and select the custom URL’s submenu.
The one thing I can’t figure out though that maybe someone else can help with, is how to create one of the little red marker icons that Google uses at the exact cache location. I’m also not sure if GSAK will preserve this customization after installing one of the many updates, but I’ll see soon I’m sure.
Enjoy,
Doug
I see a great application there. I think if you subscribe to GSAK then email the author, he would take it to heart! It sounds like he is very proactive with development on that thing.

Wow, are their any other threads that have 99+ posts???? holy moly!!!
Good luck! Watch out for that infamous boot! Wzbt03’s still 1 shoe short of.. oh never mind…I thought I had a joke in there somewhere.

It’s funny how we think this hobby of ours is free. With gas, lunch, and that $400 GPS, this is far from free. But at the same time people grumble on gc.com because they think $30 is too much. I think the fact that Jeremy & Groundspeak have not made geocaching a REAL commercial venture is amazing, and perhaps foolhardy…but that’s just a business minded person’s opinion.
I know WGA is a dues free org, but honestly I’d be willing to pay dues to get the benefits we get now and perhaps more.
There are probably are those would grumble at paying dues here as well, but realize this: not too many clubs organize and foot the bill for a big event (like the campout) and HOPE to break even. Being married to a board member, I know some personal money and a LOT OF TIME goes into running the WGA’s operations.
So maybe a bit off topic, and not that the WGA is considering dues, but what would you be willing to pay to make sure 2 big events are planned? That in itself for the entertainment value of the Summer Picnic and Spring Campout is worth it to me. Then of course you get some great entertainment on the forums now and then 😛 We also get lots of benefits from other pages on this site like automatic totals that House of Brew does. CacheCows & Jvechinski etc. donate time and services for running the site.
What’s it worth to you?

My Legend with 1700-2500 mA rechargeables will last 10-15 hours. Course sometimes a fresh set seems to last 2-4, with no change in settings.. Not sure why. I usually don’t use WAAS because it usually doesn’t kick in unless I am in out in the open (no tree cover) where most Geocaches are not!
Sams has 8 2500 mA energizers for about 13-15 bucks. Generally, the higer the mAh (milliamps) the longer they will last.
Next time someone has to do this, this might help:
Waypoint Workbench:
http://www.sheps.clara.net/WW.htmIt’s only a hobby…
I’ve really gotten disenfranchised with TBs People (hoarders) steal them so they can have one more beanie baby or piece of junk in their house.
Someone recently stole our geocoin
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=96000&hl=and replaced it with a photocopy! Yes! Read that again! What kind of loser do you have to be to keep someone’s traveler? Last I checked, geocoins weren’t legal tender.
Mr. WISearcher
Energysaver! guilty as charged! LOL
This yellow has been sold!
Thanks.

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?”
Thanks WGA!
What came out of that log was quite IMPRESSIVE. Everything came out OK! It was Mrs. WISearcher!
We chose Pilot’s Paradise to be our 1000th cache. A very worthy cache for a milestone, or any cache find.
At the risk of getting dewy eyed… or was that a wet branch that smacked me in the face….???
Thanks to our very good friends Team Lotsacache for placing it and accompanying us to it, and also CB & MB for following us as we ran, (slid, fell, snowangeled, (is that a verb?) (Can you put parentheses inside of parentheses?)(did you lose your train of thought yet?) huffed and puffed) it to some of our final 12-13 in what was indeed a snow globe! The cold, wet & weary yet determined and focused WISearchers trudged through to get 1000, come hell or high snow…
Finally, many thanks to everyone in the WGA. We enjoy you all so much.
SARCASM AHEAD….As you can see we only cache for the numbers and have made no friends along the way… SERIOUSLY…You’ve become our friends who we’ve made in this fun, challenging, & truly rewarding activity.
See you on the trails!

Why don’t you do your thing and we do our thing too
Now they want to take my cigarettes and all my good whiskey
And these damn coalitions they’re after you and me
They want to get rid of my .44’s and all the R rated films
If they only knew how much we’d all love to get rid of them
And this is a coalition, to ban coalitions
the views of a musician yeah I’ve got some
Some folks want to ban cars
some want to get rid of electric guitars
Why can’t everybody else leave everybody else alone
Now the latest thing they want to stomp out is violence on TV
And the worst of all is that Oscar winning rabbit Bugs Bunny
Farewell Foghorn Leghorn so long Yosemite Sam
They’re missin’ with our heroes and we got to stop them now
And this is a coalition to ban coalitions…C/O Hank Williams Jr.
LOL. Amen.

Some people just like to raise trouble, it’s that simple. Especially on the geocaching.com forums.Russ, I agree with you to a point, but…
Some people are provokers, and some are thought provokers. (and some people are both.. You know who you are! Is “thought provoking” causing trouble? If so that is pretty scary. Status quo is trouble to me. Is this type of topic why someone wouldn’t read the forums? Hmmmmm… Interesting.
Like it or not, this FORUM is for discussion, my friends. These trouble making topics that people never read sure do get an awful lot of responses!
