Tim and Carole:
Check this out!
http://www.tootsie.com/memories.htmlI just got a call from Bob of Cashing Out for some help on Mr. Elver’s Cache at 11 am. He must be the .1 %!!!

Blame it all on one Mr. Jeremy Irish… see http://www.geoCACHING.com
When each member of your team has a GPSr, and you have a spare!
I agree that COTM’s should encourage some to go to try the winning cache (and runners up) after the month is up. While we can’t (and shouldn’t) regulate who votes for a cache they have or perhaps haven’t done, most people voting for an Event cache HAVE attended.
An event is a nonstandard cache, but a cache nonetheless, no? They usually have a registration(or logbook), contents (people and good conversation, and FOOD!), and sometimes even a container(park, restaurant LOL. Making them ineligible slights the planning and hardwork that goes into them, a la the “lame” cache thread.
I can appreciate those who want to go to the COTM caches they have not found. But as WZBT03 said, there is no rush going to them afterwards. Could part of the reason be that that in order to win it to begin with, the people that vote normally have already done it, and the ones who don’t vote are the ones not active in WGA anyway? BTW, We don’t cache haphazardly. We go geographically and wipe out an entire area, so we may not do a COTM until we actually come across it.(Soundslike another thread! How do you cache
As wzbt03 said.. just here to make ya think.

Wasn’t it “buttah”? Glad someone else my age remembers that! ah… love the Sesame Street.

I never heard of Permethrin before. Sounds like some good but powerful stuff. Careful with the “cures” out there kiddies. Sometimes the cure is worse than the symptom or problem.
Has someone used this before? Probably good to spray on your clothes, let dry, then put them on? I wouldn’t want be like the guy in the news who tried to iron his clothes while he was wearing them! OUCH!! (True Story)

There “could” be other campouts this year. All it takes is for someone to find a location and post it as an event. I bet that even without many of the aspects that go into the official WGA spring campout, there would still be geocachers who would enjoy the chance to get together to camp. All it takes is someone to step up and organize the event. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you wish.
Perhaps I’ll lobby my local board representative!
Unfortunately, we didn’t have our Rino with us. But I know there is an option of whether you do transmit your location or not. As long as you had it on and were on the same channel (it only works on FRS channels) it should work.
One thing I haven’t figured out is to semi permanently save “contacts”. So If I run in you you at an event or on the trails, and I set a proximity alert, delete all waypoints and reload new (as I often do), that the contacts stay. It would be nice to know if you are within a mile’s radius of Socko, Brew, Outtahand, etc. while on the trails in the future. Then I can avoid all of you.. LOL J/K!!! :
Do you know if one can easily delete all waypoints, and leave the contacts alone?

Yeah, sorry about that folks. I haven’t finished posting my logs from the campout either. We’ve been really busy lately, trying to get our house on the market. Watching paint dry is definately not more fun than anything else I know, but it just has to be done. Stats are currently updating, and by this weekend I’ll hopefully sift through the 50 new cachers and get them entered too. Thanks for the reminder. I was getting into the habit of running them every night……
Thanks so much. I hadn’t realized you had to do so much manual work on it. Thanks for all you do!
Tony
Thanks to the board for organizing EVERYTHING. You all did a wonderful job. I cached until I hurt, and I owe it all to you. LOL The breakfast was awesome; Jeff of GB Paddlers makes a mean pancake, but I’ll have to vote this week for Ms. WISearcher’s ( If I know what’s good for me.) lol
We have the GPS, now all we need is the tall ship!quote:

I just loaded my own GPSr an hour ago using a combo of my I94 filter and other filters.
I’ll bring my laptop to the campout. Rumor has it you guys might need a laptop for morning GPS loading?. You are welcome to use it. I have GSAK, Easy GPS, Spinner, Plucker and Mapsource 4.x. Should be well equipped for whatever you may need.

Can you show me how to do this this weekend? We are headed on a major road trip this summer, and this would be vital!
