At Ca$h Ba$h, there is an obvious designated area for vendors that is well over 50 feet away from the main area. I do agree that changing it to a designated area would give more latitude to “tune it” in the future with a need to change the wording.
I was think that a fake rock container would blend right in!
I can well see the BOD’s view. Vendors can take up valuable space that was intended for people to be able to sit and just talk. Take for example the limited space at Pike Lake. If I recall correctly, there was a table for the container contest, one for the race, two for registration, plus the space taken up for the cakes and food, etc. That was all WGA official space and the space that was left was probably planned as “open” space for the cachers to socialize.
When you introduce vendors into that space, it does not leave much for the members. I would suggest that if we were to allow vendors into these events, that it be handle like West Bend. That is to say that they are given there own space that is aways from the “main” space so that it does not intrude on the social aspect of the event. Many of them probably have thier own tents, etc., so that should not be an issue to them.
Since a change in a D/T on a cache is reflected to all finders, their dataase does not store it on the cacher’s find record. That would be a bad database design and causea large load on the server(s). What they are doing is pulling that information from the cache description.
I too would like to see the D/T rating stick with the cacher so that it is not affected by a change to the cache. If there is a cache that has been around for a long, long time and is getting muggled, the CO may make a change of sorts to preserve the cache, but also change the D/T to reflect the change. It would be a shame to archive the cache and “create” a new one just to preserve people’s grids.
For the Out of Sight cache trip, I will have trail mix, Clif bars and Gateraide to keep me going all day.
You would not want un-certified hampsters running the sight? Could be real ugly!!
That’s a lot of trackables gone missing in that TB Hotel. 🙁
Nice article. Too bad the cache series was not mentioned. 🙁
Also it should be noted that the series is on the two bike trails and not located where the quilts are. It would have been a nightmare to maintain that many caches spread out over the entire county. Many of the quilt locations are also on busy roads.
I would hesitate to say that the field part of this cache is the hard part. What with all of the items that you need to drag along with you. 🙂
Took me a bit to be able to get it correctly, but did not use any software in the end. I tried some, but it made it worse.
What is a “real” question as opposed to a “virtual” one?
Yeh, RIGHT!!
