I am also not aware of what ‘cheating’ is being pointed out. I can say that I try to play the game, but there are not that many ‘targets’ down in my area. I believe that is due to population denisity, etc.
Ditto.

I thought SQL stood for The Squirrel… :heidy:
😉 :sl:
That would be expressed as ‘sql’. Note that it is then lower case. 😆
If you add:
Where upper(substr(ltrim(Name),1,1)) between "A" and "Z"to the SQL statement, then you have what he is looking for based on his response to CJ’s list of different type of challenges. It just gets add after the FROM Caches clause.

huh???? ran this text through Babelfish and it made no sense at all. What language is this??? 🙄
What I posted is SQL (Standard Query Language). It is used in thousands of applications and on all type of machines. If you look at some of the macros, you will see SQL statements. The $_sql command is used to execute them in a macro.
This SQL statement is meant to run in the Sqlite Manager window, but can be included in a macro also. Additional things can be done with it, like filtering out archived and disabled caches, etc. Based on the original post, I think this is what he was looking for. Just a simple list of the first character in the name and how many caches start with it.
Here is a quick little SQL statement that I whipped up and ran:
Select upper(substr(ltrim(Name),1,1)) as 'First Character'
, count(*) as 'Total'
From Caches
Group by upper(substr(ltrim(Name),1,1))
Order by 1
The LTRIM is used to remove leading spaces from some of the names and the UPPER should be obvious. Just fire up Sqlite Manage from the TOOLS menu and then open the proper database that you want to query.
Should be some sort of trophy for you!
C6 Corvette racer playing in the sand over in Egypt.

Even if we (WGA) place the caches and organize a challenge, I see that we still need the DNR to help get the word out. I know that there are also local tourism directors that put out publications and we should try to get them to include the information. I know that Green County would be on-board with supporting this. I might even be able to get someone else to place the caches in New Glarus so that I would have some to go find. 🙂

What?? and let that little thing call Bad Robot win! Not a chance. I’m in for the long haul 😆

I meant when the race is done.
It runs until the Sept. picnic. I would probably have a lot of catching up to do at that point, but who knows. This little corvette has got a lot of spunk! 😆
It could be worse…It could be down at the south pole!
I was going to enter by TB that is already in the WGA race, but it wil not allow me. Is this something that you control?

Oh my, Bad Robot might get passed soon!
Forgot to tell you on Saturday that mine was on it’s way down to Egypt for some well deserverd fun in the sun. I did not want to ruin the fun time you were having at DLSP.
As soon as the TB race site picks up the move, I will have added 2,228 miles. Gee, 5 more monthes of this stuff and now it’s getting to be real FUN! 😀
One last call out for anyone that would like to join the group at the park. We will be meeting at the parking lot across from the park headquarters at 8:00 AM. The cache “Smell that Firewood – Devil’s Lake State Park” – GC2FERB.
