Very nice job with the article.
Others had already contacted me when they saw it to comment on how well done it was.

Way to go on getting 600 caches.
I am going up caching in the area you were sometime in September. You will have to share some notes with me.
    Again – Congratulations!

in reply to: New Glarus Event cache “Wizouts Cave” #1739944

WizOuts Cave? Hmmmm where could it be?
I will tell you this much. When we searched for the location to put it in, a bat flew out of the …… well I think you can figure out where bats like to stay.
I understand that our coords might be closer to the trail then the actual cache is located, I will correct those when I add a log to make this a permanent cache. But still……. Its all in the name.
Bob of Ca$hing Out was lobbying for a different (harder) location for this one but it will have a high terrain rating when we list it.
It does seem a number of people at the event found it. I asked my wife if she wanted to go have a look and she indicated it would be a much colder day somewhere when she looked for this one.

The Event went very very well.

However when I left the park, I forgot to take my mountain bike home with me. It was sitting by the shelter and I realized it when I was 1/2 way home.
I turned on my phone and there was a message from Ca$hing Out that he had a red mountain bike for sale. Very funny!
I went back to the park and much to the amusement of those still there, a note was in place of my bike reading:

    Mystery Bike Location
    Bearing 4 degrees
    Distance 250′

Hint:You won’t need a senior discount to find this.

Thorson pointed north for me and 4 degrees pointed to the mens bathrooms.

Yes it was behind the bathroom in the wooded area.
I knew it wasn’t Thorson or it would have been a multi stage find.
Cachew would have put in the most mosquito infested place so not him.
Natloh2 would have taken it deep into the woods and dropped it off , so not Alan.
Hmmm I think that left Ca$hing Out as the most likely suspect. How shall I ever get even?

in reply to: New Glarus Woods Cache Event #1737285

I see that Cachew has posted a note on the event page that he will send you the coords of the caches in advance if you request them.

This should really make it much easier once you arrive for the event.
He also is providing online a sheet that you can record all your finds (there is codewords in all the caches).

This event was conceived to introduce others to the great trails in New Glarus Woods, the great bike/hike Sugar River Trail and the fantastic little town of New Glarus which you will love to explore.

Rumor has it that Mrs. Wzbt03 will also be there to help out – did I mention the shopping in New Glarus or the wonderful swiss menu at the New Glarus Hotel .

It sure has been fun getting to see where everyone has had a chance to find a cache.
I hope others will find the time to add their totals to this list, a list that is purely for fun.
I still find it odd that I have not found one in Minnesota, Iowa or Michigan yet. I will have to remedy that REAL soon.

    Congratulations!
I posted my reply to your century mark yesterday but for some reason it did not take.
    Way to go!
Keep it up and 200 is just around the corner.

in reply to: 4th of July Geo Picnic #1737251

Sorry I can’t make it Ken but speaking of beer…..

Ca$hing Out and myself enjoyed a nice sampler of Totally Naked, Fat Squirrel and Uf Da after a long morning of cache placing in New Glarus on Friday.

Perhaps a Greyhound would enjoy a nice Fat Squirrel or maybe a slow rabbit.

    Way to go John!

Great to be able to do some of them with you in this great adventure called Geocaching.
You have a few more to hunt down in your neck of the woods now, so off to 800!

    Congratulations!

in reply to: New Glarus Woods Cache Event #1737276

Wow – all the caches are in place and ready to go.
There are 15 temporary caches in New Glarus Woods State Park.
Another 9 located along the Sugar River Trail.
Two more sidetrips into New Glarus.
    Plus the event log itself.

Wow there will be 27 for you to hunt down.

There are also 7 brand new caches in the general area near Albany.
    Those already posted:
    Albany Lake
    Siamese Pines
    Lost Pines Outing
    Woodland Island Paradise

The other three should go up this week.

Also 3 current caches ready to find:
Jenni’s Cache II (In the park)
    Cachews Medal (In the park)
Swiss Abyss II (On the Bike Trail)

Pack up the family and head on over on the the 10th of July.

Most caches are placed with families in mind.

Parents might want to review this before letting younger ones watch it first.

    Congratulations for hitting 400 caches.
As a member of Team Badger (open to any wisconsin cacher by the way) you have shown a real tenacity for caching.
    Way to go Robin!

Its okay to have fun on the forum. I think everyone associated with the WGA website understand that everyone is very appreciative of having this great website and the volunteer work that goes into making it work.
While the day may come when we have to pay dues to keep this website active, for now there is a handful of the original faithful that keep it happening.

I am sorry if anyone finds the forum topics a bit to argumentitive. Often many of us just play devils advocate to solicite others to add their comments.

When it comes right down to it, caching is very individual and should be done as YOU the cacher feel fit. If anyone does not like it, tell them to go take a hike and while on it hide a cache for the rest of us to find (now thats geocaching humor).
Good experienced cachers mentor others or we would soon have nothing to find or do.

in reply to: New Glarus Woods Cache Event #1737273

Cachew and myself placed a number of temporary caches for the event today.
It will be a great park for family caching and bushwhacking will be limited to short off trail stints.
Right now it looks like there will be around 20 temporary caches in the State Park and another 6 or 7 on the bike trail.
We also placed 4 new regular caches about 8 miles south of where the event will be held that can be added to your list of ones to do.
This should be a fun event for cachers of any ability.
