And that is the type of information that really helps out.
I checked out the Gandy Dancer trail and we will be doing our annual bike trip in September up that way thanks to the information others have shared.
Looks just like what we wanted.

I often do not comment on them but I really enjoy it when cachers place these article links online.
    Very nice job everyone!

My 76S will pick up a signal in dense forests much better then my Garmin Legend. I have found many times when I can only get the signal from the 76S.

In the deep deep woods of New England, even my 76S gave up on me at times.

While I may have been one of those who “didn’t understand” what was being talked about originally, I do understand now and agree with House of Brew – Let Geocaching be whatever you want it to be.

While many of us have some great conversations about caches we have done, I recall very few about Travel Bugs we have found. They are just a fun part of geocaching that some like and others don’t.

Last time I checked, the total number of Travel Bugs you have found buys the same amount of coffee as the total caches you have found (make sure you have cash with you).

What if I bought a travel bug tag and attached it around my neck? Would everyone be willing to move me from cache to cache? That would sure save on gas and walking (yes you have to carry me)

Seems I misintrepreted the whole question – now I am mystified.
    Why would anyone do that?

I guess this falls into “whatever trips your trigger”. More and more cachers are carrying their very own Travel Bug with them and having others log it by the number and eventually grabbing it back.
I have seen this concept three times now and have found it to be appropriate to log as the TB owners requested. After all it is something that makes geocaching more interesting to them.
The only concern comes from those who might feel this violates the spirit of the Travel Bug.
My own opinion is that I “own” 9 travel bugs and from the looks of it – all 9 are lost. My investment would be much further ahead if I had all nine hanging from my belt .

The travel bug concept appears to be failing in general as many hang onto them way to long and keeping them has become the norm for some. It is the rare TB that continues on for some time.
I think WISearchers does have some in a race that have gone on much longer then most.

A long multi with a boat (canoe etc.) finish is a great plan. I agree with Paddlers – make it a BYO boat and make the waypoint where you can set in and paddle to the area if need be.
I will give it a go – let me know when you get it up and going.
This type of cache would make a great one for groups to attack on the same day/time.

Way to go on hitting number 400.
Wow thats a pretty quick 400.
    Keep it up Robin.

While I am sure there will be a very big turnout – our family already scheduled this weekend for a camping trip.
Perhaps next year the date can be established earlier so plans can be made.
    Have fun everyone!

Just seeing Paddlers response it reminded me that I can check out the river conditions of the Sugar River on my kayak before hand and leave word on the paddling conditions if anyone plans a side excursion.
Might even be a cache on it somewhere by the event.

Just a thought to all the suggestions to use Permathrin on your clothes.
Look out for epidermal damage to your skin with the stuff.
I used as directed and let my jeans dry overnight but had a nice patch of skin that still got affected by it the next day.
    Use with caution.
I think I will stick with DEET.

Cool seeing a couple of people hit 100 today.

    Congratulations and keep it up!

Great job on getting to 100!

I look forward to seeing you hit your next milestone.

in reply to: Devil’s Tea Table #1750324

The adventure went very well today.
I vaguely remember Cashing Out saying lookout for that hole when I went in up to mid thigh in the water.
The walk to the cache consisted of walking through 3 inches of water in a field with grasses up to my chin. There is no path now that the area is so wet and the 4 wheelers are avoiding it.
Hordes of mosquitos surrounded us the whole time and copious amounts of DEET kept them at bay.
As we walked on Cachew said – look out for that hole and I walked right into that one too.
Less talking and more listening later we arrived at Devil Tea Table.
That devious RPaske had the trio of Geotrippers, Cashing Out and Cashew searching in every nook and cranny. Never tell Cashing Out to look in the hardest places as he ended up in areas not intended for humans but more for mountain goats. I sat back and watched as eventually Cachew held up the ammo case.
    Another tough cache found.
Too bad more people did not make it over for this one – a great adventure that I will always remember.

in reply to: Which is Your Favorite Virtual Cache? #1746979

Let me first state that I really like good virtuals. I am afraid that lame ones ruined what should be allowed in geocaching.

My Favorites in order of preference:

1- Llama’s Lament – my 500th cache had special meaning and was a great virtual in North Carolina.

2- Donner, Party of Five – a California cache which is located in a forest primival setting. Very cool.

3- Bonito Vista Al Mar – Somehow whenever I think of a virtual, I think of this T&B cache.

4- Wet Feets Cache – A Vermont Cache that is the only floating car bridge I have ever seen.

5- World Wide Quarters – very geocaching oriented.
