Great job on 800!
It is great getting to know both of you and your thoughts on geocaching have influenced me quite a bit.
Goodluck this summer finding the very first geocache in Oregon – would make a nice 1000th or more.Come on you Wisconsin geocachers, lets go get this one from these devious cachers to the south.
I can´t wait to get back and find III & IV even if the flag is gone. Thanks everyone!
It is good that I can find some spanish interpreters to help me out reading some of the logs. Most of the local spanish folks tell me to stick to english as my spanish makes it harder for them to understand.
When I found number 700, one of the parts of the multi cache I did, Statues of Isla Mujeres, was a statue located at the entrance to the main school. Imagine a gringo approaching all the kids gathered around this statue waiting for school to start, holding a device all had never seen which directs you to places by sattelites. No need trying to explain geocaching this time. At first I thought they might be asking if I was a local, in retrospect I think the local might have been used in a totally different context. Thanks for the info Brian. It just seemed like such a natural place for cachers to visit. With only three caches within 40 miles and already having done one, I thought one more would be a benefit.
I have been to some of the virtuals that probably do not even warrant a oh , much less a wow and am glad to see these going away.
Cachew did the one cache I did on his visit to Mexico a few weeks back and I think would agree that there is a need for more caches down this way.
Right now I only have 5 miles of water keeping me from the other two.I would imagine that quite a few geocachers are also avid birdwatchers or at least know most of the common ones.
The most unusual one to visit this year was a gyrafalcon which visited a week ago. While rare below the arctic circle they sometimes make it down as far as we are.
Bird counts are a lot of fun and its great to hear that some of our group is involved in them.
As far as cranes go, it is great to see the population of Sandhills so healthy in Wisconsin. They always serenade a geocacher.Survey GPS’s run about $70,000 each.
Accuracy is about 1 centimeter over 50 miles.
I think I will stick with my Garmin.Oklahoma geocachers asked for permission to start their own version of this game (even though they did not need to) and will start it today in the Tulsa area.
Rumor has it that Capture the Flag II is all set in a very challenging location near Loves Park.Congratulations on 400!
What an excellent choice for your milestone.Amazing the growth and improvements to geocaching in Wisconsin that you all have fostered.
Great job!It has also been pointed out to me (and thank you by the way) that Wisconsin also has a Winnebago County but the one for this game is in Illinois.
Anyone who wants to capture the flag for us (Wisconsin) – I will give you a good Rock county location to drop it off at on the way back through if you like.
I am not going but I would suggest “Warehouse BBQ” which is real near where some of you are staying at the Days Inn. Looks like a dive but has the best food down that way and packs em in like you would not believe.
I would like to pick up a ten pack for sure and possibly more. I will plan a caching excursion up your way in early April and see if we can hook up for delivery or even stop by Oakfield.
Anyone who is close to Janesville that would like some just let me know and I will pick some up for you when I get mine.Congratulations and excellent choice for a memorable 100th.
Great caching record lately – nice to see some very active cachers out there.
My congrats! -
