Add my congrats to the list.
OOS – out of state cache finds are a great way to celebrate a milestone.
I celebrated 100 & 300 in Wisconsin
200 & 400 & 600 in Illinois
500 in North Carolina
and 700 is going to happen in Mexico. The sun coming up over the Sierra Nevadas sending light beams through the pines as I sat on top of one watching Lake Tahoe awaken. Breathtaking solitude and peace at its finest. Mostly due to trying to get in all my geocaching before everyone got up for breakfast.
Congratulations!
Remember to make 500 an extra special one to remember!03/05/2004 at 12:47 am in reply to: Current Resident find 50th – it is Bobcat98w’s 100th hide! #1736629Great job!
Eau Claire was on my list this weekend but with all the snow, it will have to wait.
Can’t wait to try out some of those 100 and the pres series.I agree with Ken that the Wisconsin Geocaching Association is the envy of most. We have a lot of great things going and the website is one of the best.
I guess my intent was just to get some clarification on what should and should not be done.
It will remain unclear as the decision appears to belong to the individual cacher and the host of the event.
So my rule (I did say my rule) will be formulated from all the input that was received:
1- If its just a social gathering I will log it once.
2- If I host one and I am at the event – I will log it as a find.
3- If there are temporary caches that require the use of my GPSr to find – I will log them.
4- If there are temporary caches that do not involve my GPSr I will participate in the spirit of the gathering but will not log them.I guess all the input helped me decide what is best for me as I am sure others will reach their own conclusions.
Congrats to QwertyToo – the first cacher to complete all 4 time stations in the Wisconsin Time Trial 2004. It took him a total of 2 hours and 46 minutes on more then one visit.
shoot me an email and I will give you a couple of tips.
That is what I like about this forum – open opinions about subjects that some of us are unclear on.
I guess each of us will have to have our own method of dealing with event caches. I have gone in and deleted some and have left others like the ones for “Caching Through the Snow” where all the temporary caches met the criteria of a regular cache too.
Remember that a open discussion is a good thing even when opinions vary. While we have heard from one of the board members that I respect very much, it would be nice to hear what all of our elected mentors have to say on the subject. It is something we all take for granted the hard work that many put in to our activty with little gain except the pride of knowing that the Wisconsin organization is one of the best.
Great job Brian and all of the others that make it better for everyone.Milestones can be any number.
I am sure I worked harder on my first 50 than any 50 since.
Great job!Great job!
It is nice to see so many active cachers getting milestones.Great job on 100 – I was going to post it later so you beat me to it. I was out enjoying some of your caches today.
Congrats!I have a Dell PDA and I probably do it the hard way but…….
I take the query and run it through Spinner and then just transfer the results to a SD card on my computer and put it in my PDA.If it is easier then that – let me know. I do not like to tie up PDA memory with the cache info so I always use either my CF or SD cards – its nice that Dell has a slot for both.
Great job – nice to be able to celebrate 100 twice with equal excitement for Ken I am sure.
Way to go both of you!Way to go!
Did you do anything to make number 500 extra special?
Wicket deserves equal praise.
Great job both of you! -
