I can’t say I would run someone over to get $100
but throwing in $10 for the fun of it would be fine.
Just a thought – why not have each team competing hide one cache within a 10 mile range and everyone turn in sheets with the coords of their cache and first one back with a record of all the finds (codewords?) would win the $100 and everyone else could record the finds of this “event” and collect their caches after the event and possibly leave one cache as a permanent one after the event. This way everyone could start wherever they liked.
Whatever – something different always sounds like fun to try. Bring it on.Good tool to use!
Thanks for pointing it out.Only one Janesville Park has a locked gate during the winter months – Riverside Park.
Almost all the Illinois Forest Preserves are locking up or are locked up already. Many of the caches in that area become quite a hike if you arrive and the gate is locked. The Garmin legend loads maps exactly the same way as the 76S. The only difference for me when I load both of them is that I need to change the interface cable for the computer since the 76S uses the round 4 prong.
I am sure you have lots that can help you now. We have a lot of super tech types that are more then willing to share their knowledge.Let me throw in my congratulations too!
I guess I have lost track but that must make the number of people in the 100 club in the low 80’s ?
Congratulations!
I am very honored that you selected my “Blood Hounds Quest” as number 700.
I will be making a harder one for your number 800 or >.
Glad you made it to 100. I do believe you included at least one of mine in your quest. Thanks and congrats!
Way to go!
The strength of geocaching is in having many active cachers – you have qualified !
Congrats!Great job – we all welcome the activity at the caches in Wisconsin.
Congrats!Great job on 200 – what was number 200 if I may ask.
Wish I could help but…..
I have Mapsource Topo maps, Road & Recreation, Metro Maps and World Map and depending on what I am loading I always just switch CD’s. I know that for Metro and Topo East – I never have to have the CD in , so I must have loaded it onto the hard drive at installation is what I assume.
I have found that the ones I like best are the Metro and Topo. You can do without Roads & Rec and World Map (which is not much different from the basemap anyway).
I agree, the first 100 is the best milestone but then again there are many I have not experienced yet. So for now – congrats and I will get back to you on which one is best.
My 2 cents on the subject –
I have found that by taking the time to educate those who are responsible for land management can put our activity in a very favorable light. We have a number of board members that can help or advise on ways to do this in the most positive way.
In this day and age our activity is walking a very thin line. Finding ammo boxes in the woods or stumbling across a hidden camo box could cause most non-geocachers to over-react. I have wondered recently how many geocaches are in the woods around Ohio Interstates and the risks of such a thing at this time with the sniper.
Face it folks – we appear a bit weird to those who do not understand what we are doing. I commented the other day to my daughter – “old guy” in woods rummaging about – High Risk in the eyes of some others in the woods, “old guy” with daughter – Risk free.
So for everyone who thinks we can and should be able to do whatever we want – get over it as it could be the beginning of the end.
In my opinion, everyone needs to do their part in this – if meeting with local parks people to explain geocaching is too uncomfortable then perhaps just finding caches and not hiding them is more of what your involvement should be.
Anyone with differing opinions need not be offended – its an open forum here and different opinions are always welcome.I am very sorry to hear of the loss and my heart and thoughts are with the family.
I know when Ray and Helen were down for the Milestone Gathering they were anxious to return and be with their daughter who was in the hospital. I had no idea how serious an issue it was.
I am sure everyone who has ever been around the family is feeling a loss at the sad news.Congratulations for 300!
Good cache – uhhh I mean catch Mr. Beast!
