So, outside of geocaching, I’m an electo-mechanical technician at a large factory.  I am into coin collecting when the wife and budget allow.  I like to be outside whenever possible, even when I’m not geocaching.   Camping, fishing and just hanging around a campfire are just fine by me.  Packers football, and Michigan State sports are about the only thing that will put me in front of the tv.  Cooking is a passion of mine, and I will try almost anything once.  I also like to get others to try new things when I cook.  I’ve recently taken up long distance running, and have competed in two half marathons with the goal of running a full marathon in the next three years.

Pearl Street is on our short list for breweries this year.  Put two 6 packs in the fridge yesterday. If you bring in 10 of the cardboard 6 packs to the brewery, they give you a free growler fill

Sarcasm is so eloquent in written word.  Kind of turns what is a relevant topic of turning Pokémon Go players onto geocaching into a hot debate.

So if I’m to understand this correctly, a WGA member should develop a mobile app that incorporates geocaching and augmented reality similar to the Pokémon Go app.  Then they should turn over all rights and royalties to the WGA since they are a member and it would be nice of them to do that.  I don’t see that happening.

The most glaring issue I see with this would be that developing an app that takes someone out into a map based environment, to search out things in the real world, to be awarded virtual prizes kind of seems redundant.  The way I see it, geocaching.com already released an augmented reality app when they made it possible to cache from your smartphone.  The user uses the app to venture out into the real world to find things on the map, and are rewarded with a virtual prize, the smiley. If anything, Pokémon Go is an adaptation of geocaching where there doesn’t have to be anything physical to find, just a randomly generated monster.

Both of these games are great fun and can even be played at the same time.  They have their differences, but they share a common goal, get people outside, moving and meeting others.  I think we can come up with better ways of funding our organization.

Great question 🙂 my husband and I are trying to finish the US map! So our current goal is to add 3 states every year. We drive out to Montana every year to see Mrs Zeeman’s parents who live there…so we alter our route each year!  This year we are adding Iowa and Nebraska…so one more to go 🙂

Where do I start with this?

My first comment is this : you are a WGA board member right? *get on that thing?* So how about being part of the solution? If you have ideas as to how to make this happen, bring it up. It is a fantastic app, and a lot of fun. I don’t mind admitting that. My husband and I spend quite a bit of time playing it…lots of fun.

Secondly, money making?  I’m not sure how this is important…WGA is non-profit right? I donate money where I can and purchase many items to help contribute…not sure where this money making comment comes in.  Care to explain?

    Third, it’s Pokémon Go.

Wow, haven’t been on here in forever!  Just wanted to say hello!

Not sure how this has to do with geocaching, but I’ll bite and answer the question.

None of the above!  I vote Tom Izzo for President!  Go Green Go White!

Just tossing it out that if there is anyone besides us and sweetlife on the way to Mackinac Island this year for the Spring Fling, just drop us a line, and we would be happy to get together on the island. We’ve got a fairly good grasp of the island and it’s trails if anyone would like to team up.

Letting you know that indeed, Brian and I plan on going to the event on the Island!! I absolutely adore caching there before the busy season is upon them! I am not quite sure when exactly we will be leaving, as Brian is now on Second Shift. But, he is taking Friday off, so I believe we will be leaving early Friday morning. That may be too late for you.

If you wanna email us, [email protected] is Brians email.

    Hey!

I have been working on mine for quite some time. My design is really very simple, and I don’t see it necessary to spend money on a designer. It is literally just some clip art. That being said, I was wondering if anyone could take a look at the design we came up with, and ensure that I am not missing anything. 🙂 Point me in the right direction if the design is going to be okay. And also, I see on blueprints that some have where it is supposed to be raised. I don’t have that. Is that something that will be necessary to provide as well?

I guess most of my questions stem from whether or not my design is going to be detailed enough (or not detailed enough as the case may be) so that they will approve my design 🙂

    Thanks again for anyones help!

I will need a designer later I am sure, when we get our feet wet with our first creation 🙂 I would just like to get familiar with the process first before really getting detailed and such. I just want a simple one to begin with…
