    Hey BQ,

Big CONGRATS on 5K….That is just awesome. I really hope to be able to cache some day with the queen of bushwhack, and learn from your wise ways. Does that sound like BS? yeah, I think so too, at least a little, but I do hope to cache with ya some day.

Cool story. I guess Garmin makes stuff a little better than Palm. I learned today that my Palm is NOT waterproof. Like a fool, I went cachin in the rain, since I personally dont mind a lil liquid sunshine. I dont even mind the wet dog smell in the car from cachin in the rain with Jesse the geohound. (She is the one who smells like a wet dog–not me, BTW.)

Anyway after the first few caches, my Palm just upped and died, so I had to fly blind the rest of the day. I am drying it off, but I think it is probably dead.

    Hi,

I have visited several of these cache, and this list really shows how foolish the DNR’s policy on SNAs is.

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=7c2763de-c7df-4905-9ab5-44189ffabe3f Two Creeks Buried Forest

This one has a sign on a state highway directing people to a plaque. If they really didnt want anyone in there, why not take down the plaque, and take out the parking area?

I suppose those Ducks dont cause any environmental damage?

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=32942 (Parfrey’s Glen)virtual cache

This one has signs 10 miles away, trying to redirect tourists from Devil’s Lake to this area. If they really dont want folks back here, why do they spend taxpayer’s money on all the signs????

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=84352 (Bayshore blufflands)with permission

This one has mowed trails right to the cache, and 2 parking areas, one on the bluff below, and one on the highlands. Again, why have parking areas, and mowed trails if you dont expect the taxpayers to come look at our property from time to time?

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=88928 (Muir Park)

There is a mowed trail right from the historical plaque right out to the cache.

    http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=31385 (Roche-a-Cri Mound)virtual cache

This one has wooden steps (303) all the way to the top, with signs telling ya what you are looking at in the distance. I am sure nearly everyone who camps here, climbs it at least once. Why cannot a geocacher climb up here? Our we less of a citizen than the folks who camp here?

I guess I feel that I pay my taxes and I have as much right to access public lands as campers, fisherman and hunters. I am not blaming gc.com for enforcing the policy or WGA for helping implement it. However, I do not feel we need to support a policy that has not been well thought out. Clearly, the ban on caches in SNAs is a policy that needs to be revisited, because it just does not make sense when you take a look at the caches that it has forced to be archived. I am all for protecting the environment, but this policy is not effective in meeting it’s stated aim.

    Hey Jim,
Congrats on getting to 500…..Hope to see ya on the trails again. We are lucky in this neck of the woods since the caches are plentiful, so the next milestone should not be far off.

    Hi,

Congratulations on making it to 300 finds. It was nice to meet ya at Rib, and I am sure we will cross paths again, hopefully on the trail to a great cache.

Hey, congratulations on making it to 1K. I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting ya, but if ya stay on the trails as much as you have been, I am sure we will cross paths before long.

    Hi BQ,

Another great article, thanks for sharing BQ. One of the biggest changes that I have seen over the past year is the number of non-geocachers who have heard of the sport.

Yeah, I am pretty sure that is one of my caches in the photo, since I like to use the orange matchstick containers for micros. I am not positive, but I think that the cache in the photo is The Road of War is now the
Chippewa River Trail, which is very close to the UW-EC campus.

    Hi,

I just want to echo all the thanks for a job well done. You have always done a great job of setting me right when a cache just didnt measure up, or if there was an issue that needed fixing when listing a cache. I, like so many others here, really appreciate your work in advancing geocaching in Wisconsin.

Hey Natloh, way to go in finishing the De Lorme. Great challenge, and I am sure you had a great time grabbing the last pages. Time for another challenge of some sort, eh?

    in reply to: 2k #1766398

Hey, way to go on 2K!!!!! That is awesome. And I bet ya had a lot of fun grabbing them. While it aint about the numbers, the numbers do remind us of how much fun we have wasted driving around looking for stuff in trees and bushes.

in reply to: Ammo Can Organization #1766212

I can fully endorse the WoodenNickle/ BigMike ammo cans. they are the nice big ones, and the ones that I got were in great shape. Nearly all the regular caches I have put out since the campout are their cans, and I love em, and the price is very hard to beat. I ran out a month ago, and onesearching2find went to Madison and got another 20 for me so I am set for awhile.

in reply to: Wisconsin DeLorme Challenge has a Winner! #1766081

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all the kind words guys. It was a lot of fun, and I recommend the Challenge to all. You will love finishing it. And who knows, you might not feel like caching much for a whole week afterwords, slowly weaning your caching habit.

Is anyone working on putting out a 72 county challenge? It would be a good complement to the De Lorme challenge.
