Great article. Thanks for sharing it.
Interestingly, there are precious few caches in Rice Lake, so perhaps the classes there will jump start interest. There are good quality caches in all 4 directions from Rice Lake, but none in Rice Lake itself.
Keep On Cachin In The Free World.Hey, Congrats Giz. Hope to see ya on the trails again real soon.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World.Did a few more of the CV event caches today, and thought they were all great. This event is hightly reccommended, and I think you will find it worth the gas to drive up to the Chippewa Valley.
One problem I ran into is stamps that wont let go of the paper. Each cache has a stamp that cuts a hole into the paper. About 25% of the time the stamper grabs the paper and wont let ya retrieve your paper without tearing it. If ya run into this problem, the solution is to take the bottom of the stamper off, and use a pen to push the stamper blades up.
I also notice that most caches have been visited by 5 – 9 teams so far. However, far less than that are logging them onto the CV event page. Pleases remember to log them into the CV event page so that those who placed them can do what needs to be done to maintain the caches for the entire event.
And, once again, kudos to Kent for putting this together.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World. If ya come up with a date in July, I would love to join a group on this one.
One other glitch: When on the “posting” page on the CV cache page, where you would go to log a find or comment on the cache, Firefox does not have a Submit button on the bottom of the page, like it should. I normally use Firefox, and could not get my posts to submit.
The work around is fairly simple: Just switch to IE, and the submit button shows up.
Also, a minor typo in my previous post. I misspelled Zoejam as Toejam, and I think there is quite a bit of difference between the two, so my apologies for the error.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World.First day of the Chippewa Valley event got off to an awesome start!!!! Thanks a lot Kent for all you did to get this going.
There were at least 5 teams out opening day, I saw KeithTS and LouMag on the trails, and saw logs by FSUNotes and Toejam.
Again, awesome job, Kent!!!! (But where in the world in that old car is the dang cache????)

Keep On Cachin In The Free World.Another question on SNAs: Are there better maps available of the borders? I have looked at the DNR web site and the maps there, and it is really hard to tell where the borders are.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World.Hi Rangerboy,
You cite one of my favorite Skynard songs, and a song Neil Young himself covered on occassion. Dispite the feud about southern racism on vinyl, Neil Young and Lynard Skynard were fans of each other, and were often seen wearing each other’s concert tee shirts.
There is even an urban legend that Ronnie Van Zant was buried wearing a Neil Young t-shirt, and that Neil was one of Van Zant’s pall bearers. Neither rumor is probably true, but believed by many. Van Zant’s tomb had to be moved after people tried to dig up the grave to see if he really was buried in a Neil Young teeshirt, as reported.
Anyway, this all has nothing to do with cachin, but I couldnt resist to the urge to respond to the post about Neil Young. Almost inspires to put out a “Southern Man” cache.

Keep On Cachin In The Free World. Thanks TATB.
I have not done much with the list for the past month or so, cuz I was stymied by the fact that it reached 100 caches, and that was (is) the limit for caches on a list.
When they increase the max to 500, I have a bunch more to add. Maybe they have already, I dont know.
I am saving the emails suggesting w/c caches, and when they allow more than 100, I will add them.
The list is made with w/c users in mind that have some upper body mobility, that can go short distances on hard level turf and that can reach a little bit, either with a reacher or with their limited mobility. There are not many caches out there that are on sidewalks, and at the right level for someone with very limited upper body mobility.
I work in an ICU now, but used to do rehab nursing, hence my interest.
