 “Lakeshore State Park is located on Lake Michigan by the shores of Summerfest and Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin. It is almost completely surrounded by water and connects to Urban Park via the beautiful Lakeshore State Park bridge. THE PARK, formerly known as Harbor Island, is the only urban state park in Wisconsin and is designed to provide an urban oasis with recreational opportunities and outdoor educational programs. The 22-acre park includes a 1.7 mile trail that connects to the Hank Aaron and Oak Leaf state trails; a watercraft beach area with access for canoes, paddleboats and kayaks; fishing areas and 20 boat slips for vessels up to 60 feet in length with overnight boat camping available. A bridge connects the north end of the park to the Summerfest grounds and an extension of the land near the Marcus Amphitheater connects the south end.” -Friends of Lakeshore State Park  The Wisconsin Geocaching Association (WGA) is a group of geocachers dedicated to promoting and protecting geocaching within the state of Wisconsin. The WGA organizes geocaching events, works with land owners/managers on geocaching policies, educates the public at large about geocaching, and facilitates communication between WGA members. It is our goal to place a geocache in every state park in the state of Wisconsin so watch out for more in this series that encourages geocachers to explore the natural resources in this beautiful state of ours. The Hank Aaron State Trail runs through this park so there are several places to park and walk in with paid or free parking. I am listing a waypoint for free parking but this may be full if there are festivals going on at the nearby festival grounds. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Tom Kroeger of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager.
