2023-2024 Fall Event to Fall Event Travel Bug Race Announcement

Who can enter: WGA members and friends who have signed up on the WGA website
How to enter: Each member or friend can submit 1 official racer (in the event a geocaching team has more than 1 person, each person shall be permitted to submit 1 entry. Entries will be designated as: Team-Dad, Team-Mom, Team-Kid, etc., or whatever geonames differentiate you. Sorry, dogs, cats or other non-humans are ineligible.)
Racers must have zero mileage and be virtually dropped into the WGA Fall Campout event (GCA92JA). Physically your trackable must be at the Fall event, brought by you, brought by your proxy, or given beforehand to a WGA BOD member who will serve as your proxy.
Winner: The travel bug to have the most traveled miles by the 2024 Fall event shall be declared the 1st place winner and their name will appear on the back of the WGA trailer plus receive a WGA Gift certificate valued at $20. The 2nd and 3rd place, determined by 2nd most traveled and 3rd most traveled respectively, will each receive a WGA gift certificate valued at $15 and then $10 respectively.
Monthly- our goal is to have monthly race updates posted to the WGA website and Facebook page.
How will the trackables be dropped? Following the Fall event, the racers will be divided into 2 groups – half will travel to a cache in the north and half will travel to a cache in the south. Official tracked miles will start from the starting cache following the Fall event regardless of if yours goes north or south.
How will the mileage be tracked? All miles traveled will count. (Official starting zero will be from the cache they are dropped off in. The distance from the fall event to the drop point will be subtracted from the the final mileage to determine the standings and winners.)
As this is a WGA game, if any questions come up, clarification will be at the discretion of the Board.
Volunteers needed: The WGA Board is currently seeking 2 members to serve as observers and mileage trackers. These volunteers will be asked to check into the BOD communication software (currently Teams) on a regular basis (at least monthly) to help track miles and determine the monthly standings. Please email [email protected] for further information on how to volunteer.
